Will NX be the first 9th generation console (unless Micro and Sony blindside us with Xbox Zero and PS5), or will NX be still an 8th generation console, like the WiiU? Or something else?

If its on the same league as PS4 / Xbox One then its not 9th gen.
If it plays games of 8th gen its not 9th gen.
Answer is its 8th gen system.

8.25 gen unless it has hardware, social and or network capabilities that are far above that of the PS4/X1



I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime. 

The NX will be a 900p machine

People outside of forums  and video game websites don't label generations.
