Forums - Gaming Discussion - 60Fps - is it really that important?

Is 60 fps just placebo?

Yes, you wont notice a big difference 98 28.32%

No!!!!!! 248 71.68%

Depends on the game. I prefer 60 frames when playing a competitive shooter or something in that nature.
30fps is okay for a lot of single player games and rpg's. Don't get me wrong, I'll take 60 fps over 30 if it's available to me, but 30 fps is fine just as well.

Yes it is, they feel way better. That doesn't mean that 30fps is unplayable, not at all, but the difference matters.

When you get accustomed to playing games at 60fps, it does make a difference. It's just so much smoother. Especially for racing games and shooters. I personally would always prefer 60fps >30fps. That being said 30fps isn't a deal breaker.

Pretty much what I was going to say. I feel after having gamed at 60fps for over 2 years that it's harder to go back to 30fps, to me it feels like things are going at a slower pace. Still it doesn't stop me from playing games like C&C Red Alert 3 though, newer games though I do expect 60fps to be a thing and I'll always choose 60fps over 30 whenever possible. That and gaming at 60fps just boosts my overal fun from a game, especially in competitive ones.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

It really isn't.

I played DMC on ps3 and a few years later on ps4. I heard that the difference is massive and it feels like a completely different game. Biggest load of bullshit I've ever read. The improvement in graphics and fps was barely noticeable.

Now I'm sure there are some people who obsess over fps and can notice the difference but I'm sure that most gamers can't tell the difference or don't care nearly enough as internet/forum people do.

The game was equally fun both times.

In the case of Dmc

I'd actually say the 60fps makes far more difference than with many games. The 60fps is far more fluid. There was a reason Capcom always targeted 60fps on Devil May Cry games.

You might need to view the Video through YouTube rather than the mini window to get 60fps. Not saying Dmc was bad at 30fps. I just think it's much improved at 60fps.

I couldn't go back to 30fps playing shooters again.  It's a huge diffence.
