Forums - Gaming Discussion - Has anyone went full digital on games this gen?

I have on Xbone, and was wanting to know if anyone else had. Hard drives are just so much more convenient as far as space, which I was running out of due to my collection of games I have.

That said I still get physical copies of my Wii U games.

I have both a Wii U and 3DS and physical was the only logical way to go. I wanted to go all digital, but there are two problems. There is a big disadvantage in terms of resale value for Digital games and Amazon often have sales on physical copies of games.

yes... only on games priced $20 or less.

I'm 70% digital on WiiU and 95% digital on Xbox one. The problem for going 100% digital is you can better deals on discs. Nintendo was great with WiiU Nintendo deluxe digital promotion for the first two years. I have a 2tb harddrive on the WiiU and a 2.5 TB hard drive on Xbox One.

I have actually started selling discs and buying digital. Recently exchange a Gears of war disc for a digital code and did the same for Tomb Raider. So I got a 20% discount of retail for the pre-order from Best-buy and still got my digital code :)

No, still prefer physical over digital...

On PC yes, on console some of both. Depends on price and some games i share with my brother so i bought them digitally.

I definitely get some of you here, but being able to turn on my Xbone at midnight of a release title I want, already have it preinstalled and playing it within minutes is absolutely AWESOME! I hate big releases and waiting in line with a million people or showing up super early, then (at least when the consoles were released) coming home to find out that installing the game I wanted to play (even though I own the disk) is going to take like 4 freaking hours. I found myself not even being able to play the game day 1. (This happened with the only physical game I bought which was COD: Ghosts.)

Odds are (though I don't know) that the installation stuff for physical games can be done before getting the game, but digital only has actually been a positive experience for me.

Digital is my impulse buy catalog. I tend to buy physical for games I want on day one and Gamefly to try games I am uncertain on. Always a digital deal here or there that gets me to buy instead on some of those though.

I'd never limit myself to either of them (except on PC, but there are no benefits to buying physical PC games where I live).

They both have their benefits.

No need to go "full digital", it is nice that we still have an option to buy discs as well. I personally just buy whatever is cheaper at the moment, for example just yesterday I bought Uncharted Collection digital because I got it for $28 (that's about €25) and I can't find a disc version for under €45.
