It could, Splatoon has better legs than the Halo franchise, and outsold/pretty much matched Halo 5 on Black Friday. The only problem is that Halo 5 will probably have more time to sell than Splatoon, since the Xbox One's successor will probably be released after Wii U's.

Doesn't that kill the point of legs?

I don't think it does. What I'm saying is that Splatoon has better legs than the Halo franchise, which it does, just that I think it will have less time to sell than Halo 5, because games don't sell as well once a system dies. Count the amount PS3, 360, and Wii games that show up on the most recent update: The most has almost 200,000 in sales, which is lower than 3 Wii U games, and in the same level of sales as 4 Wii U games, (which obviously has a much smaller install base). So when the Wii U dies in the future, I really doubt that the legs of the games will be very good when 1) Games don't sell as well on dead consoles, and 2) The Wii U has a low install base (and there would be little to no new purchases of the Wii U).

Well, it's been out for a while, so that alone means it has rather long legs... I am not sure if Halo has legs or not. We need to see how long both sell. If Splatoon is still selling more when the NX releases, then it has longer legs, since it was released earlier...

Just did a bit of math with the numbers posted for the 5th of December. (Thank you, Machina!)
Splatoon:
USA - 109045
Europe - 50450
Japan (Media Create numbers) - 35256
Total: 194,751

Halo 5: Guardians
USA: 105924
Europe: 72597
Japan - .... Um, let's say about 1000
Total: 179,521

So with those numbers, Splatoon's 194,751 > Halo 5's 179,521.

Adding those numbers to their lifetime totals as of the 28th of November, we've got:
Splatoon: 2,960,308
Halo 5: Guardians: 2,582,176

If these numbers are true, (Waiting for January NPD)
Splatoon reached 3 million first... and Splatoon's chances of outselling Halo 5, lifetime, are getting higher and higher.

FPS/TPSes always have legs, because of the replayability, even more so, since neither Halo 5 nor Splatoon are annual releases

The reason I would say Splatoon's legs are vastly superior to that of Halo 5, is because of the lack of competition of FPSes on the Wii U.

Its not getting BO3, or w.e battlefield is coming out, All Splatoon really has to compete with is Devil's Third  in other words, its free victory

Meanwhile XB1 gets all the FPS multiplats and TPS on top of its own FPS/TPSes

Splatoon is still ahead by about 500,000 units according to December 12th estimates. The arguments about Splatoon having less competition are invalid because people don't buy the Wii U for FPSes, people who want to play them are playing them on other devices.

Sales prediction, PS4: 122 Million, Xbox one: 50 million, Switch: 105 million.

We just need official numbers. Halo will be ahead Imo because of overshipping for the holidays.

Splatoon 3.75mil
Halo5 5.25mil

Are we all forgetting the launch window here. Yes Splatoon sells like hot cakes. But truely which competition is available on Wii U. Xenoblade is for a very certain audience, while Splatoon covers all. Meanwhile Halo releases in a time in which a new COD arrives a new star wars and Fallout 4 in which quite a lot halo players are intrested in. So at this moment Halo is getting outsold by Splatoon but when more quiet times arrive for Xone we will see which will sell more.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

bump.

Did we get halo5 figures?
