There's no such thing as "fair" when it comes to a situation like this. Neither of the companies "deserve" or "don't deserve" their position, wether it's 3rd, 2nd or 1st, it's just how it is.

I totally disagree with you there.  If any product provides the best value for the money to consumers, then I feel that product "deserves" to sell more, therefore "winning".  That way the other companies will step up their game for the next time, and in the end the real winners will be us consumers.

What defines which product "provides best value for the money to consumers"?

I'd say the one selling the most. Because that console is providing the best value to the consumer. Especially after how many price cuts and deals that MS did. It didn't help. Xbox didn't with the Kinect, at the start. Nintendo doesn't with the games that are avalible. Nor the gamepad. The PS4 has everything you'd want. And the PS camera sold as a option, if you want it. Except for nitpicks, everythings on there.

So what you are saying is, whoever is selling the most is the most deserving of it? If so, then this question becomes a bit redundant, no?

Anywho, people wouldn't have been talking about who/what deserves to win unless they someone disagreed with who/what is winning/losing, illustrating how this is a matter of opinions, not a matter of sales.

There's no such thing as fair when it comes to business. The product with the most appeal to consumers wins the market.

I'd say absolutely! Sony deserves the win. But in al fairness I guess if you like playing on be it Wii U or Xbox one if that's what you like then you are the winner. Not the gaming company's...

Whenever people want to judge who/what is better. It comes down to numbers. Because everything else is subjective. There's varables yeah. Take Superman Returns. It was abandoned because fan outlash was high. But the money it earned warrented a sequel to that movie line. While other movies, like Transformers, are rediculed. But no one would listen or stop making explosion porn, for the people who want story. So in that case, money is the deciding factor. The easier thing people can agree on, is numbers. Who won last generation. By the numbers, Wii. But by subjective emotions, PS3. In this case, currently. PS4 has emotion and numbers. Making the choice easier.

This might come off the wrong way, but I too want Sony to win. However, if they're going to win, they need to earn it. The race is still not over and they can't just get lazy.

Don't worry doesn't come off the wrong way, but would you say there is a chance for the xbox one to make ps3 comeback?

Yes but this isn't about who won. That's not up for debate. This is about who deserves to win. By your reasoning, those two things are one and the same. My opinion on this remains the same, there's no such thing as "a deserved winner" when it comes to something like this.

Also damn, did you just equate sales with quality, and then claimed sales to be an objective measure of quality? @_@ Wuuuuuuuut

People do that all the time on EVERYTHING. "COD is shit. Earthbound is amazing!" And the sort. Sony didn't cheat their way into winning. MS and Nintendo screwed up. So they have vaild reason to win. Now, if Sony paid MS and Nintendo to fall on their faces. Then they have no right to win. No one really wants to allow subjective tastes to be deciding factors. If they were. Earthbound would be still made. COD would of died. DLC pratices people hate wouldn't be around. And Cars 2 wouldn't of exsisted.

The Wii U has good Japanese support? That alone puts the validity of the entire reasoning and thus the conclusion in question.

Furthermore, the PS4 sells first and foremost to casual gamers who wouldn't even touch a real game like Bloodborne with a ten foot pole. No, not fair.

All nintendo games are japanese so I say it is good not great or perfect just good and there are many games worth to play despite the droughts of games the WiiU had.
