Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Lack of Voice chat made me stop playing Splatoon....

Honestly there is no reason why voice chat should not be there. If it's to prevent bad language, then they could have set the default option to mute. For a team based shooter, even if you don't rely on your team, it's nice to have the feature so that people who do rely on their team can better coordinate and have a fun time

Lack of voice chat was pretty smart decision in my opinion. Game is really fast paced to make much of anything in casual mode. For some super high stakes billion dollar tournament ranked mode stuff they can probably afford to go for third party client and headsets.

Same in games like Hearthstone (has emotes) and Heroes of the Storm (text chat). I can't even imagine the amount of negativity and vulgarity people would face with voice chat. Sometimes people add each other after the match just to talk trash.

Just ask COD players the lovely words their opponents shower them with. It is good that you quit though as now you can focus on making threads on VGC.

Whitout voice chat it is easier for people from all countries to play together. Not everyone is fluent in english.

I'm so happy this game does not have voice chat.

The only thing I could see people being upset about is no voice chat among friends. I don't have anyone to play with but voice chat between friends would be a nice and good feature.

Hearthstone and heroes of the storm are not team based shooters though. Hearthstone doesn't even allow for coop, which is kind of the purpose of voice chat.

If trash talking is such an issue, then why not have a mute button set on by default? Why remove the entire feature?

This is my problem with voice chat. As you said it would be very useful, and when something is useful it gives you an advantage over the people not using it. Having voice chat basicly forces everyone else to use voice chat least they lose out on the advantage. I would really hate to be forced to used voice chat.

You know what also gives some groups the edge over others, playing with others instead of random people. Should Nintendo not allow connection with friends?

Actually in some cases, they don't

There are three main modes: Normal, Ranked, and Squad

In normal mode you can play with friends but half the time they are on the other team and winning does not matter too much in that mode.

In ranked you are not allowed to play with friends. All of your teammates are random.

In squad you play with friends but the other side is doing the same so there is no edge over the other group.

OK, then how do you account for internet connection? Is Nintendo forcing you to get the best internet connection or risk having the other team (with better connection) to have the edge.

Point is, there are many factors that could give you/the opponent the edge. But this should never be a reason to remove an optional but helpful feature that can benefit both teams.

When you give both teams an advantage it cancels out and there is no advantage. So when you think of voice chat the only thing you are getting is conversation. You get conversation but people how don't like voice chat get an actual gameplay disadvantage.

You are wrong internet stranger. Hearthstone just had its first co-op brawl. As for Heroes, you can't tell me that moba requires less cordination than a shooter where matches last 3 minutes each.

I gave those two examples because well i play those two games and people also initially had issues when no chat was announced for both of them.

Cheers.

Just like internet connection. If I don't like to upgrade to get better internet connection, then I am put at a disadvantage compared to the enemy team that has solid connection. Online play shouldn't be removed for that reason.

If I don't like voice chat, I am put at a disadvantage compared to the enemy team that utilizes voice chat well. Voice chat shouldn't be removed for that reason

When I blast up in the air and come straight down, I get killed... this would be VERY useful for voice chat to help me "Hey protect me, I'm coming over to you!"

I'd advise you to choose when and where you hop more wisely. There are pieces of clothing that hide your landing area too. You should try wearing them.

As for voice chat, can you speak Japanese? I ask this because a huge number of players are Japanese.

You're still not being fair. Because you hate voice chatting, other people have to lose out. Is everyone in this world gonna be screaming curse words, no. I could just use skype and give you a disadvantage. And you'd never know. I've done that before.

I stream splatoon with 2 other people. We all have an advantage to who we're facing. Because I can warn people to not squid jump to me. Or tell someone were a camper is located. Or ask someone to get a loadout with a point marker. Or certain guns. Or push into the main area with the other 2. On many times I've returned to the base platform. Because my firned altered me one person snuck down a side area.
