Shadowfest3 said: Splatoon not having voice chat isn't an issue for me. I used to be an frequent player of Call of Duty and the only time I actually used the voice chat feature is when I was playing with a friend or group of friends, which didn't happen often. Also, when I do play nowadays I mute most of the other players anyways because they became annoying and would said some vial things that I really didn't want to listen to while playing the game. So, I can see why Nintendo decided to keep that feature out of the game. However, if someone does play Splatoon with friends online all of the time I can see where it would be helpful and fun. |
Which is why having a robust chat feature on consoles should've been a day 1 thing (they should've just made a deal w/ either teamspeak or ventrilo). I know, I beat this dead horse quite often, but having control over your gaming experience > waiting for these companies to deal with shitty people. It's like expecting WoW admins to do something about a gold farmer immediately, whereas, on my old CoD UO/2 servers, when people were hacking, you were either caught by Punkbuster and added to the master ban list (immediately), or manually banned and your IP reported to PB (a little longer, but still dealt with permanently. You don't come off the PB Master Ban list).
W/ Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo backing them, PB could've been an all encompassing tool to literally shut out douchebags from public servers (allowing them to still be dicks privately to each other). But noooooo, gotta monetize everything, give half-assed products and make people shy away from certain types of games. So fucking stupid.
Also: Allow users to create their own servers, and give out access to friends/family and other people they come across who are align with your behavioral expectations. (Even with 2 CoD servers in the house, I still went out and played on public servers from time to time). You think CoD is bad? Just go pop into the loading room for H1Z1 sometime, that is, by far, the most insanely vile gaming experience I've ever observed.
