Yes! There it is!

The happiest VGC time of the year. Your hints started off good, I would have guessed Warcraft III on Smeags's hint even though I suspected it wouldn't have been correct (guess I suspected correctly) and I thought Turtles in Time immediately when reading Neodegenerate's hint. But alas, I was too late.

Anyway, without further ado, my hint. Veknoid actually guessed it correctly last year and some might even remember that, but I'm not expecting this game (or a couple others) to actually be guessed. I will be impressed if anyone does!

Back in the time this came out, graphics were so primitive it was actually the box-art that gave gamers an impression of what it was supposed to look like. This is why depending on your point of view, American or European, this game is exactly the opposite from what it is for the other.

So my #50 is a platform title based on a movie about insects. This movie was produced and distributed by Dreamworks Studios. The film was released in 1998.

Antz?

So let me try the first game hinting. I'm horrible at being criptic, though XP

50. Still the best game on its franchise. One sword. Two guns.

Devil May Cry?

Soooo, correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't now be the time to start giving hints?

Hint #50:

This beloved third entry in a long standing strategy franchise (not that beloved third entry in a long standing strategy franchise, the other beloved third entry in a long standing strategy franchise!) started my love affair with the undead legions. It taught me the value of strength in numbers, and nothing was more satisfying than to see my supposedly weakest unit overwhelm other players.

Sounds like Heroes 3 with the Undead team and expert Necromancy... @_@

The second entry in this JRPG series is a prequel and features a female protagonist in a butterfly costume.

Baten Kaitos Origins?

The seventh entry in this highly regarded series was the first one that saw a European release.

Final Fantasy VII

But you should wait until tomorrow to go with another game hint.

Wasn't the first FF game to hit EU Mystic Quest?

Mystic Quest is at best a spinoff, so it wouldn't count to the tally. Nevermind that the game didn't even carry the Final Fantasy name in Europe.

o: I figured you would say that.
