Thought I'd share the below with you all-

New data from The NPD Group and GfK Chart-Track shows that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have achieved a total install base of approximately 32 million in North America and Europe as of September 30th 2015. When compared to last gen, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 had a total install base of 22 million at the same point in time when you align launches 

The numbers are based on hardware sales from North America (United States & Canada) and Europe (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom). The U.S accounts for more than 50% of the next gen install base in North America and Europe.

The NPD Group & GfK Chart-Track noted that physical software sales for the past 9 months ending September 30th 2015 are down 8% year on year in North America and Europe, however the decline in revenue has been offset thanks to the increase in digitally distributed games, including full-game downloads, add-on content, and free-to-play games. Digital gaming revenues have increased 21% year on year during the same period with the primary drivers being micro-transactions and consumer purchases of full games via digital channels.

Not bad of a bump for PS4 and XBO, though it makes me wonder why Wii U is left out? Also makes me wonder where the Wii stood at that time when PS3 and 360 were 22 mil....

No one care about it, not sure about any other country but here in the UK the retailers i walk into have more or less nothing on it. Shame really, has good stuff.

That's def true for this gen, and last gen as well, amirite? : D

The Wii had sell in of around 27.6m in Americas and Other at this point in time so the install base of gen 7 would be much higher than gen 8 at this point in time if you were to include Wii in last gens figures. 

I worked at Game during last gen, the Wii section was massive. In fact, it was way more Nintendo.

Some markets are left out from Europe. That's kinda weird.

I know right? some low populated countries like Norway, Finland or Switzerland but also bigger ones like Czech Republic or Poland....
