Forums - Sony Discussion - Square Enix Bringing Overwatch To Japan, Only For PS4

Shortly after BlizzCon 2015, Square Enix announced to distribute localized version of Overwatch in Japan in spring 2016. However, Square Enix will only bring the game to PS4 platform, which means players of other platforms won't be able to play localized Japanese version. On the other hand, the Japanese official site has been live.

The version Square Enix to release in Japan is Overwatch: Origins Edition, which includes 5 heroes skins. The game will be available to purchase at 7800 yen, roughly $63 USD (Blizzard's Origins Editions is priced at $60 USD).

If marketed right, the cast is crazy cool enough to appeal to the Japanese demographic.

Too bad about no X1 version but I suppose it is not worth SE's time in with the Japanese market the way it is.

Not worth the hassle just to sell a hundred copies or so.

“Ore no... Kachi da!”

I wonder about this game and it's appeal. It's a FPS MOBA basically right? But not F2P? It could go down the same route as Evolve, hyped but left on the shelf a month after. Without Blizzard's name would it have the hype it does?

Just wonderings is all.

Also, the fake British accent hurts my british ears.

Hmm, pie.

Tracer's accent is pretty obviously a fake one (at the very least it's exagerrated beyond anything I've ever heard), even for someone who aren't British, but that doesn't mean I don't love it
