Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why isn't motion controlled gaming still a big deal?

Hey guys. Op here. Just wanted to say "Hi ". This whole thread was because I have an Xbox One with Kinect and I love it. I recently bought an Xbox One as a gift for someone else. I bet they'd love Kinect based on the voice control and chat/Skype options alone--but that's not worth the extra $$$. At least not with some great games. A few good games and I'd have bought them a Kinect, too!

Now, Kinect 2.0 actually works great. I got the game " Blue Estate " recently and had a blast. WiiU and PS4 have great motion controls built into their controllers (as I mentioned much earlier in this thread). I just hate that the good times we had with games like Wario Smooth Moves, Dance Central, Sports Champions, etc are a thing of the past.

Maybe gamers got older or bored. But why didn't new gamers take their place? I plan on buying a PSVR on day one. I'm excited. I was hoping for an Xbox One vr headset that used Kinect.

Hopefully it makes a comeback in a major way (and not just tilting a controller)--and without the false promises of "getting your kids back in shape by playing games" or whatever bs we fell for last gen.

Around the Network

I would say it was a "chicken and egg" situation where good games quit being made because people weren't buying and people weren't buying because there were no good games but..... the good games ran out first. And the good games got buried under a pile of shitty games that the uneducated would purchase in droves (ie Carnival Games) because they released at budget prices.

I wish Nintendo would have stepped in and said "You're not releasing this shit on our console". And M$ didn't do much better. They had the peripheral out of the gate on Xbox One and launched without a killer app. They should have packed Kinect sports with every Xbox One to wash the bad taste out of everyone's mouth from last gen's model. But no. They didn't even have a (good) Kinect game at launch.

I just found with motion gaming, that i really just wanted to chill out and relax and enjoy a game. Not to get exercise while doing so.
