Yes it did... http://www.engadget.com/2005/09/26/forbes-xbox-lost-microsoft-4-billion-and-counting/ ...

Which just proves that they have the surplus to make it happen lol

Except we are now into the 3rd Xbox generation and I'm sure investors and the MS board were willing to accept losses in the first generation because, well that's often how things go when you first enter a new market. But 14 years in, it would be reasonable to expect that shit has been sorted out now and profits are fairly easy to come by. Especially after Sony showed everyone how not to start a 3rd console generation back in 2006.

Sure MS can easily afford to lose a few $billion on Xbox once again. The question is are they willing to cut this division that kind of slack? The hard nosed business case for MS to be in consoles doesn't exist any more. Whereas once the Xbox management might have been able to say it's important to be in home consoles because of reasons, those reasons are no longer relevant and arguably home consoles are no longer a significant force beyond just gaming.

Anyway, going by the YoY VGC graph tool it looks like they have PS4 pegged to win NPD by around 50K. Though it feels like the either or both PS4 and Xb one are a little on the low side. Of course this means VGC aligns with Amazon, which, given Amazon's impeccable record, is a pretty good place to be.

I don't know if I'm missing something here.

Sony posted shipment numbers of 29M+ as of the end of October. And VGC is tracking 26.5M as at the end of October. Meaning that at the end of October there were 2.5M PS4s sitting around in channels?

Further more, for that quarter Sony shipped 4M consoles. meaning they have a manufacturing rate of approx. 1.3M/month. Yet they have almost 2 months worth if stock just sitting there unsold?

Something doesn't seem right with that to me. Especially when considering that in a similar quarter last year they even shipped less consoles than they did this year. And the sales to stock gap wasn't this high.

You are missing something, although in the opposite direction.

PS4 is at 29.3 million shipped at the end of September...

wow!!!! so vgc numbers are even worse than I thought???!!!!

I wonder, when they posted 30k vita units sold for europe, did they not realize we're not even close to april 1st? It's never too early I guess.

With a great Halo 5 boost.

Actually I don't think they are as bad as people think. Sure VGC could be undertracking by 1.5 million. But it's also possible Sony is building up plentiful stock to guarantee no shortages for the holidays. I think the time to really assess VGCs tracking is when the December Q shipments get announced. You should expect sell-in LTD and sell through LTD to be fairly close if Sony was able to manage its stock. Right now >2 million in the retail channels (which will include retailer distribution centres, not shop floors) isn't completely unrealistic for this time of year. PS4 just had 2 months selling >1 million consoles (Sept and Oct). So at this time of year 2 million in the retail channels is only ~8 weeks of forward supply. Is 8 weeks forward supply really that outrageous? Doesn't seem that unreasonable to me.

So that 140K is for the Halo week launch, but the 1TB Halo Bundle was launched on the 20th of October. So that will mean that the week before was even stronger for Xbox One in the US.

I'm wondering how that bundle did. Anyway to see those numbers?

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

Ps4 did well

And the europe+psv controversy continues...

So many comments about it, which are exceptionally justifiable! I'm feeling very vindicated, I called it/proved it first  two times, and I finally give up.

The problem is the misguided huge adjustment-up due to a misapprehension back in april, which influences the extrapolation of the numbers of all weeks since that time till  now, otherwise the situation wouldn't be bad!

(The add-up  was 1.3m, of which 1m went in Europe out of nowhere, psv baseline from 25k-30k went to the sudden 40-50k, x2 selling rate compared to last year, because of the strange 20k+ in Europe, no huge price drop, no major game release, what causes europe replacing Japan as psv best selling territory, while in Japan is being supported, having handheld market dominance effect and in Europe the absolute nothing?)

It's self-evident and don't need critical thinking to see that this thing is utterly absurd..

I have made two threads about that issue with different evidence...  I would expect it to had been fixed, already!

I don't want to think that ioi ignores my valid analysis, which is based on reliable sources (related to psv shipments) !

30k for vita in Europe? Come on guys you have to try to make the numbers somewhat believable. It makes you look bad.
