Forums - Movies & TV - Christoph Waltz - a miscast for the worst villain ever - no spoiler

Christoph Waltz is amazing in any role, I would be surprised if he were ACTUALLY bad in this movie. To me, it sounds like you just don't like him as an actor, period. Which is weird, I love him, and many people I've talked to don't know who he is, so it's rare when someone speaks out against him and dislikes his work. Crazy, if he's actually bad, I'll be surprised, but I'll have to see this for myself. By the way, he's played awesome roles as a villain in inglorious basterds and pan's labyrinth, so again, I'll be surprised.

Who doesnt know him? He recently won 2 oscars. But go, see for yourself. He plays a totaly non-versatile, boring, monotone role, with no motive, no change in momentum.

I'm seeing so many mixed reviews as of late mentioning the same thing about Waltz. However, I'll watch the movie to judge by myself.

The only review I listened to said he was the only bright spot in an abysmal bond film.

I liked Waltz but after a certain point it seemed like the movie should've ended but then everything after that didn't make much sense.  Waltz went out like a bitch when he should've been saved for the sequel after a certain encounter.

he's good with what he's given but they have his character put in some dumb scenarios that no actor can save

Christop Waltz wasn't in Pan's Labyrinth.  Before Inglorious Basterds he pretty much wasn't in anything that is know in the USA since a majority of his work before that movie was in German TV shows and TV movies.

Dang. I thought he put the performance of a lifetime in both Django and Inglorious Bastards... Will judge for myself though with bond.

Because Tarantino knows what he's doing with a script.

You know, I think I've made this mistake before, for some reason it's in my head that he was in Pan's Labyrinth. Thank you for pointing that out, he's very good in every movie I've seen him in though, including his villain role in Inglorious Basterds. I will delete the Pan's Labyrinth thing from my memory now, cause it's wrong haha.

That was my thought, it's not necessarily that's he's bad, it's that the material/director are.

I felt he should have just flown away at the end instead of hanging around and getting captured.  I also hate when heroes talk with villains and have ample opportunity to kill them instead of having one good face to face.  Like Bond having him in custody and then Waltz saying how he's the architect of all his pain and such right before getting broken out or something would have been way better.  There was also no need for them to be related they could have just had him be the guy behind Bond's girls getting killed and that would've been enough.

I'll comment when I've seen it LOL :D
