Forums - Movies & TV - Christoph Waltz - a miscast for the worst villain ever - no spoiler

Hello,

I was just in the cinema and saw the newest bond.

Good action, hot chics, over the top fights...all i love so much when i wanna see a bond. If i wanna see citizen kane part II, i won't go there.

But: i was so pissed at waltz. He is sooo terrible as villain. Every scene with him, i rolled my eyes, and i only thought: "fucking die you moron".

...maybe they wanted this?

Thoughts?

I'm planning to go watch this in the next week or so. As much as I like Waltz, he's been bad in a few roles. The few lines he delivered in the trailer didn't exactly inspire confidence.

He's getting a bit tiresome now, been playing the same type of characters for a while now, but at the same time I thought they didn't show enough of him.

The whole plot and pacing around Sprectre was crap. Mendez can't direct action to save his life. Craig is on autopilot. Not a very good movie. Very few highlights. Its about on the same level as Quantum. 2/5.

All his Bond films are dire, i'm old school though.

Noooo!!!! Not one of my favorite actors right now.... you make me cry.

Look at my pic...casting him as villain is like casting me as bond.

The only review I listened to said he was the only bright spot in an abysmal bond film.

To be fair it's not his fault that the script was rubbish. That monologue during the torture scene, and the final sequence were just painful to watch. There was nothing he could have done to improve that.

hmm the trailer already didn't get me hyped at all.
I thought Skyfall was good but not really amazing. Quantum of Solace a joke compared to the greatness that was Casino Royale.

Everytime I look at IMDB, Spectre dropped by 0.1 points. Might end up under 7.0 if that continues...

Dang. I thought he put the performance of a lifetime in both Django and Inglorious Bastards... Will judge for myself though with bond.

Christoph Waltz is amazing in any role, I would be surprised if he were ACTUALLY bad in this movie. To me, it sounds like you just don't like him as an actor, period. Which is weird, I love him, and many people I've talked to don't know who he is, so it's rare when someone speaks out against him and dislikes his work. Crazy, if he's actually bad, I'll be surprised, but I'll have to see this for myself. By the way, he's played awesome roles as a villain in inglorious basterds and pan's labyrinth, so again, I'll be surprised.
