Haha knew you'd have a Dreamcast inkling if you said that! I want to say games like Metropolis Street Racer haven't aged at all... but then I look at them, and they have :(

So realistic!!!

As for your sig, Shenmue was never meant to be a trilogy! It has 16 (I think) chapters :p

Weirdly the advertising logos in the background are by far the highest res textures :s that priority.

That said... it still looks perfectly playable and you could make out the cars almost through that fence, skyline on the right and possibly an RX7 on the left?

Haha yeah, it just looks like a huge shock when you're used to the 7th and 8th gen racer visuals in comparison (see stuff like GRID 2). And to be fair, the advertising board is a landmark in London (Picadilly Circus) so it does make sense in that instance that they prioritised it over other areas.

I actually liked Shadow the Hedgehog when I was a kid, but that was more than likely because I was a kid.

I loved the first Assassin's Creed, but then I played the second and was never able to enjoy the first one again.

EDIT: Though I'm sure if I tried to play Brawl after having played Smash 4 so much, I'd probably find it painful.

Oblivion and Fallout 3. Skyrim seems to be aging better because of the level design variety (although not that much variety in the scheme of things) which was severely needed in the former two games.

Landmark or not, the font used for the Mc Donalds text is really high quality for a DC game, in comparison to the statue in the middle of the roundabout, that looks like something you might push around in a Resident Evil 2 puzzle on the Psone :D

It's always the same tho when it comes to games which are based on being super realistic when they launched... man I remember when playing Gran Turismo 2 after it came out thinking that games couldn't get much more photo realistic in the future.....

Yeeeeee, ever stop and look at the crowd in GT1/2? just a big grid of coloured blocks, 33mhz of sheer realism.

Haha indeed, I remember I'd be playing F355 Challenge, and think "there's no way the PS2 can do anything that looks any better than this!!!"... Then Gran Turismo 3 came out XD

I kinda feel sorry for people who haven't really been able to experience the evolution gaming has undergone in the past 25 years. Particularly a lot of the more intriguing 5th gen stuff, just would be completely unplayable to many who only started gaming from the 7th gen onwards.

I know yeah, I tried to get my wife into Mario 64 a couple of weeks back, "Why is there no 2nd stick for the camera?" She just couldn't get into it at all. I remember when we first seen that game on the launch of the N64, O M F G THERE IS AN ANALOGUE STICK TO MOVE WITH?!!! AND YOU CAN TIP TOE PAST PLANTS WITH IT! Minds were blown back in 1996(?) or so.

Really there are some classics which have been murdered by technology now which really sucks, mostly because they are games that when you get past the fact that they aren't running in 1080p absolutely piss all over some of the AAA interactive movies released today imo.

There are countless games from the NES, SNES / Genesis, and N64 / PS1 / Saturn generations that fall into this category for me. So many games from back then that I enjoyed as a kid or at least had fun with, but today I wouldn't even give a second thought about.

Marble Madness, the original TMNT, T&C Surf Design, Roger Rabbit, Krusty's Super Fun House, Ecco The Dolphin, Frogger on PS1, Cruis'n USA, Turok 1 & 2, and plenty more that I could list on here are some games that I enjoyed back then but feel terribly dated today.

Yo, another SEGA fan. :P Great! (Metropolis Street Racer looks gorgeous even to this day imho haha.) Also, I know Shenmue's got a few more chapters... but hey, if we get the opportunity (which we thankfully got) we should try to sum up the most important aspects in a third game instead of going for 5.

I'm playing and loving the same game I played and loved when it launched in 2008, and the same one I was hyped from 2005/6 onwards.

    CU......or CF ?

Mario Kart 64 and Goldeneye come to mind right now. The former is specially guilty of that!
