Forums - Gaming Discussion - Games you loved that haven't aged well?

Do you still love most of the games you played several years ago?

Of course 77 86.52%

I don't remember 5 5.62%

They got old for me 7 7.87%

Total:89

We might've played them years ago and loved them to death, but when we try to go back, it just doesn't feel the same.

Are there any games you played that you loved, but can't stand them anymore because of their age?

For me, that game would be this:

This was one of the first FPS games I've ever played, and I loved playing it on 360, clocking in a load of hours in multiplayer.

When I tried playing it on Steam however, the game felt to basic and bland for me, and now that've I played other FPSs at that point, the game just doesn't stand out for me anymore.

What about you? Any games that you have similar feelings about?

Mmm, I can only think of the original Silent Hill. Amazing game but it's too damn awkward to be playable nowadays.

Star Wars Jedi Knight II Jedi Outcast. I still like the gameplay, but the look of it has definitively aged. Not as much as I would have thought, though.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Hah, I was just thinking about that not too long ago. I can't really think of any games that I feel aged poorly. Most of the ones I have are still fun to play x )

Correction. Pokemon Red and Blue are too hard to play now, as in so dang slow... Once you get running shoes, you can never go back...

Sadly, Rings of Power was a when I played it again. I remember thinking the intro was so impressive and story captivating but now I can't play the game for more than a few minutes. It's an ambitious game though.

Sonic Adventure 2....that game is soooo bad.

Nintendo and PC gamer

Pokemon Pearl. I don't think I can go back and play that again with its slow character movement.

I suddenly have nightmares of the atrociously slow surfing speeds...

The tank control Resident Evil games, I don't think anyone can release a successful game with those controls in this day and age.
