Forums - Sony Discussion - PSVR will be priced so Sony doesn't make any profit. What are your price predictions now?

Shuhei Yoshida has just claimed that PSVR will be priced to not make any profit and concentrate on getting a good install base.

“We are bringing a console mentality and also making developers test it fully before using their content. We tend to price hardware not to make money from it but to get as many install base so that content can be sold. This is the same kind of thinking in the way we are approaching PlayStation VR."

What are your price predictions now?

$299. Anything more than that and it will be DOA. Even $299 will be a hard sell imo.

300-400

I still see a pricetag of 300 to 350 dollars to it.But i have a legitimate, and quite dumb, question:
You need to own a PS4 to play games on PSVR right?

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Yes lol

Under $300. But the big question is how big of a loss they will take on it. Can they afford to sell it at more than a $50 loss? As long as it's fairly easy to implement VR as optional then I can't see why every FPS game can't be a VR compatible game, and with Sony having a CoD partnership I can see CoD being VR ready. I also assume every FPS that is also on PC will be VR compatible too.

250$

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

$299 with a free game would be nice.

Somewhere below the market price of PS4. Probably even more discounted with PS4 bundle. I could see a $500 PS4/PSVR bundle when it comes out.
