Shooter audience switching to PlayStation 4, says Sony

(Image not part of the original source)

Xbox may be enjoying its Halo sales success, but shooter fans are actually switching to PlayStation 4, Sony says.

PlayStation has secured third-party partnerships with a number of big shooter franchises this year, including Destiny and Call of Duty: Black Ops III, as well as upcoming blockbuster Star Wars Battlefront.

The company has created special edition consoles for all three games and PS4 [...]

This generation, the shooter audience is tending to switch over to PS4, so we’ve got high expectations for Star Wars Battlefront around both launch and into next year,” said PlayStation group marketing manager Lauren Bradley.

[...]

“One of the most favourited comments on our Facebook post was ‘the nostalgia is strong with this one’. Star Wars is so important to so many of us, those who love it often have that one friend they grew up watching it with so its a good way to get the local co-op message across.”

Considering the sucessful sales on their console, and the fact that some shooters that weren't available previously on Sony systems (like Metro: 2033) are now present, I wouldn't doubt the fact that they'll probably grab the highest shooters audience throughout the eight gen.

Well, they have secured partnerships with the biggest shooters around, and the PS4 is getting more games in general.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

It makes sense since MS is not as strong in that genre since they used to.

I think once the PS4 starts snowballing, xbone will become a wasteland kept alive only by multiplatform efforts. It might even drop below Wii U once the PS4 makes having an xbone redundant.

I LOVE ICELAND!

I'm not so sure I would agree with that. The higher install base likely makes it sell more, but if you were to put sales 1:1 with Xbox One I guarantee the attach rate with shooters would be higher on Xbox.

Another case of Sony being rewarded for doing swat all put put a couple of stickers on a console and buying a couple of extra hours of gameplay. Sad.

I've never heard such rubbish in my entire life. I know this site has been going downhill for a while, but this sort of logic is dismal....

Every gamer are switching to PS4, this is a no brainer in every genre. Props to Sony for making a stronger system and selling it for cheaper at launch.

I really hope you're joking, because if not... just sounds like wishful thinking.

Where are the numbers?

We all know that without numbers everything is just PR spin. Right?
