Is it so hard to just say "Congrats" these days? ; )

So much to say about it, a simple "Congrats" would be a waste! ^^

Like, "biggest Halo launch", but with software AND hardware, so they're counting the game, the $500 console, the controllers, the headset, the microtransactions... Can't tell anything from that number. The Xbox 360 wasn't at $500 for the previous Halo games, right? Did it have Halo 5 controllers and headsets? Did it have microtransactions? And they didn't say "best selling Halo at launch", so we can search for maximum numbers by searching previous first week numbers (it sold less than the best selling one first week).

"Highest week one attach rate for a FIRST PARTY title", so the attach rate is better for at least another third party game. Surely Titanfall attach rate > Halo 5 attach rate. And if they have attach rate, they have sales numbers. Why not releasing these numbers?

"Fastest selling Xbox One exclusive". Same thing, beaten by a non One exclusive. Titanfall again? Destiny?

"Most played game on Xbox One and Xbox Live". When? Last week? You sure? How weird for people to play Halo more than other games on the Halo release week ^^.

And then hours and streams numbers, good looking numbers but pretty useless at the end of the day.

The best stat is "Best selling digital game on the Xbox Store for first week". Congrats for that!

The rest is just an usual PR spin with a lot of auto-congratulations based on mainly irrelevant stats and numbers. And again, the most important and easiest to understand numbers are nowhere to be found, even if they have it. Waiting for real numbers for congratulations, if we have these numbers one day.

LOL!! what a spin!! this is the ONLY FPS exclusive they have in 2015!!

very strong sales regardless. lets see how it performed in the USA once NPD comes.

the highest rated Xbox One exclusive, "And" the highest rated first-person shooter game of 2015 (So far, and on any system) No spin there.

If that was their intent then they did it wrong.  Also, didn't Forza 6 score higher?

On topic, that's a lot of words to tell us very little.  Without knowing the breakdown for "games and hardware," it's hard to talk about one way or the other.

I dunno about how that sentence works with English grammar, but I think the comma indicates it's the highest rated Xbox One exclusive and the highest rated FPS of 2015, not the highest rated XB1 exclusive FPS of 2015.

No that's not what the comma indicates. Plus Forza 6 is an XB1 exclusive that's rated hogher, and Taken King is a first person shooter that's rated the same.

The only way for this statement to be true is if he's talking about and XB1 exclsuive FPS.

Did people just read the title and started calling people out without even reading and understanding all the major spin in this???

Wonder what metric they're using for "biggest launch".

Well, all those things mentioned sound like good achievements for a game that sounded like it wouldn't do well. I think that's pretty good in my book, rather than dissect the comments to prove otherwise and just take the positivity out of it.

Masterful.

No mention of actual sale numbers or hardware boosts, but mainstream media will no doubt lap it up with zero analysis as per usual.

Maybe they are saving it for NPD.

Extremely likely it sold well in the US, everywhere else it didn't. Very normal for Xbox, it's not a global smash hit and never was.

"Halo 5: Guardians has made history as the biggest Halo launch and fastest-selling Xbox One exclusive game to-date"

The wording here is odd... Is it the biggest Halo launch on Xbox ONE or biggest in Halo franchise history as a whole?

"with more than $400 million in global sales of Halo 5: Guardians games and hardware"

What exactly is the point of being so unclear if it supposedly did so well? This just seems bizarre how hard the statement goes out of the way not to make it clear. Given how over priced the bundle was and that hardware is a very general term that goes beyond just the console. We still have zero clue on halo's sales.

No conclusions can be made at all on how well Halo did or if it performed poorly compared to its predecessors IMO. Microsoft is trying their hardest not to let us figure it out.

does that include bundles and controllers?

It's only one of two actual xbox one exclusives (retail) this year too. This and forza, everything else is either on 360, pc or a remaster
