Forums - Website Topics - Why does bread smell so much better than it tastes?

Yo, this thread made me get out of bed at 2am just to have a bit of bread.

And thus, after eating said piece of bread, I conclude in the name of science (Yes, this is a scientific study... don't question its background!): Bread does taste good.

But scentifically speaking did you add anything to it like butter, or did you just eat a plain slice and that's it?

There is a big difference, one is not pure bread the other is

My wife feels the same way about coffee: smells great, can't stand the taste. But she loves bread. I don't. I love coffee. Why in the hell are we married?

Idk but your wife is clearly right in this case.

Obviously a slice of plain, good old bread. No toppings. I would never fake my scientific research.

Grains are maybe the worst kind of food there is, especially bread that has all the grains in a powder form, has likely added trans fattyacids and all kinds of other ingredients that don't belong in a human diet. Other than that, gluten, wheat germ agglutenin and what other lectins there are can give you a leaky gut - even if you didn't have a celiac disease. It can also make it harder for you to breath, make asthma worse (or even give you one (as baker's asthma).

There's a wide range of health problems you can get by eating grains. If you have autoimmunedisease, you should quit them altogether and see what happens in couple of weeks to a month or two.

Give me a break. The human body can take a whole lot more than what many so called diet experts assume. A healthy individual can eat just about anything without getting sick or anything. Hell, if you have a good metabolism, you won't even get fat from it.

All that mumbo jumbo about how this or that is bad in diet always just refers to a small group of people. Yes, it is possible that grains are bad for you, but it is also possible that fat is bad for you or protein is bad for you or even just water! Google it, there are in fact water allergies. The point is, every human is different and that's why the optimal diet is also different for each and everyone on this planet. To say that something is bad for everyone in every case is just plain silly.
