Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why is Nintendo not releasing Mario and Luigi in NA this year???

It's coming out in Japan and Europe this year, so why not in North American???

Nintendo's holiday lineup for 2015 is pretty lack luster, Xenoblade and Mario Tennis are pretty much their only big titles

NA is one of the Nintendo's biggest markest, and I find it idiotic that they would release the game this December every where except there

What do you guys think?

You can't count out Yokai Watch. You really can't.

I honestly doubt that it is going to big in the US, don't know about Europe though. Games that do really well in Japan often don't do as well the West, and vice versa. However, I would love to be proven wrong

Yo-kai is why

Because for whatever reason, each regional branch handles things differently.

Instead of Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, North America is receiving Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon this year. In Europe and Oceania, Pokémon isn't scheduled to release until 2016. Yo-Kai Watch is also releasing this year in North America but not until 2016 in Europe (though Europeans can import from Australia or New Zealand as those two countries are receiving it this year).

It would be nice to have closer release dates between the three major regions, or a removal of region-locking so consumers could have the option to import without needing to buy additional consoles, but that's unfortunately not the case at the moment.

Because NoA is satan.

Also: Yo-Kai is why!

That still doesn't make sense. Mario is obviously the one that is going to sell better, so wouldn't it make sense to release that during the holidays, not a game that has a chance of bombing in the West.

lol@Yo-Kai

It's just Nintendo being quirky, and we all get a big kick out of it.

It is a better move than kill the chances of Yokai, an IP with a huge potential after all, with your most famous franchise releasing around the same date, they are gonna be agresive with that one, they are importing the merchandising and the anime after all. The thing is, one is probably gonna hurt the other, so better give them some air.
