there is no way to determine of they have a representative sample. once they have several years of seeing trends they may be albe to use this to extrapolate some usuable data. As for now its as relable as a poll on foxnews.com asking who would make a better president Trump or Hilary.

I agree but at least it is more data that suggest it was a pretty close race and whoever won it, it wasn't by much.

ya I agree with that. Did they do this last year, and if they did how did that compare with actual results?

to be honest, I don't remember very well, all that I remember is that they predicted a win for xb1 last year.

Well, I have sufficient knowledge to now that internal data can't be selectively disclossed because that is priviledige information. If you work for MS and get early report on a Black Friday PR or earnings report and buy/sell shares based on it you are commiting a crime...

But please show these internal reports you have.

My friend. Do you think NPD exists only to quench your console war sales thist?

There are hundreds of companies traking thousands of itens sales, suply and demand every day. And they sell these information to any analist that pay.

Banks can also do it. Sony can do it to see how the Xbox is doing, and vice virsa. How could that be a crime?

Do you think guys like Michael Pachter are geting payed to give opinions out of their asses?

Hi guys, I just joined a few minutes ago.

I wouldn't be surprised if MS edged out a slight win for BF, but I'm not certain how reliable this infoscout is. Yes, they analyze 100s of ks of shopping receipts, but if you look at the actual fine print on some of their articles, only a fraction of those may actually be towards the items they're talking about.

Their analysis of 2014's Black Friday results, for example, references 180k receipts, but only 2k of those actually purchased games or consoles.

I'll quote the article: "InfoScout panelists submitted 180k+ receipts over the course of Black Friday. Of the 180k receipts submitted, 2k receipts included a games-related purchase."

Infoscout has overtracked Xbox One every year. Why would they be accurate now? Most of InfoScouts reciepts are from Target, and Target usually has the better deals regarding Xbox One, so the overestimations are expected.

Update – 2015-11-30

"Due to popular demand, we’ve augmented the post to include a breakdown by major gaming console.

At Target and Walmart, the Xbox One + Gears of War bundle barely outsold its rival PS4 + Uncharted Bundle. Yet, strong PS4 sales at Amazon.com and other retailers were enough to edge out the Xbox One for top sales this Black Friday season".

guys they already gave an update or a better explanation to the result. ps4 ended up selling better but it was pretty close according to them.

Talked of that 3 hours ago XD. Though this thread does go quite fast.

Uncharted 4 is in the top 100!

We should hopefully have the december thread up sometime today (1st of december), just have to co-ordinate things with Shadow (we live 6 time zones apart :-3 ).
