This doesn't mean the x1 won BF.

Wii U at #3 and gears at #4. Calling it that wii u will be at #1 by the end of today on the hourly.

Yep, I can see that happening.

The PS5 Exists.

Lol..now it's "top individual purchase". Which excludes any receipt that has a console and something else (game or controller). That + the lack of a proper report for the first time (they got it out quite quickly in the years where X1 had a clear win) just reinforces my belief that PS4 did win. If X1 had won, the report would be out yesterday.

A Nintendo,  ps and xbox console in the top 4. I don't think I have ever seen that.

Hi guys, I just joined a few minutes ago.

I wouldn't be surprised if MS edged out a slight win for BF, but I'm not certain how reliable this infoscout is. Yes, they analyze 100s of ks of shopping receipts, but if you look at the actual fine print on some of their articles, only a fraction of those may actually be towards the items they're talking about.

Their analysis of 2014's Black Friday results, for example, references 180k receipts, but only 2k of those actually purchased games or consoles.

I'll quote the article: "InfoScout panelists submitted 180k+ receipts over the course of Black Friday. Of the 180k receipts submitted, 2k receipts included a games-related purchase."

Some nice detective work.

You do have to wonder why they're being so ambiguous this year when last year and the year before they were direct and to the point.

Has the wii u ever been #1 on Amazon?

Yet Amazon has the PS4 well ahead.

what's your point?
ps4 is ahead at amazon, yes

that does not idicate the ps4 overall won the black friday weekend.
im still not sure who will win november npd, but im 100% certain xbox one won black friday.

different demographics, you know
ps4 is always ahead at amazon, because theire target audience fits more with the ps4 ones
but moms buy a console at walmart, when they shop other stuff

also amazon.com overall markeshare is below 10%

How can you be 100% certain? Infoscout is only a small sample of total consumer activity, so while it might be highly reliable it can never claim 100% accuracy. Also Infoscout has not said which console won BF over all. It only said that the Gears bundle was the number 1 hardware sku. They didn't say how big the gap is between #1 and #2 and what the aggregate total is when adding up all skus. The Infoscout information makes it more likely that Xb one won BF, but it doesn't make it certain.

It is certainly true to say that Amazon has an unproven track record when it comes to any measure other than monthly and yearly sales ranks. So we should not say that Amazon is more reliable than Infoscout as an indicator for BF. Retailer deals are far too many and varied for Amazon to be a reasonable reflection of national sales. Indeed a smaller sample size across all retailers is likely to be more accurate for situations like BF.

In the end though, aside from bragging rights what does winning BF get you? If you lose November, and lose the year then wining on a single day / weekend ends up being inconsequential. The only hard numbers we will be getting is from NPD, which means the PR bragging rights go to the November NPD winner. Which is still strongly looking like PS4. I do think we are going to see a closer NPD than I thought 24 hours ago.

Seems some cant handle PS4 selling more, why is that. Its been out selling the x1 since day one its the generally seen as the better product. Between the UC and Star wars bundles, its not hard to see PS4 was the console of choice at all times barring some crazy MS promotion. I saw no massive bundling advantage for either one.
