After a controversial thread here in VGC, I was left wondering if you guys draw a line for what is acceptable in the fiction or not. In case you missed the previous thread, Nintendo apparently (it's not confirmed yet) censored lingerie outfits for a 15 year old character (which is 13 year old in Japan). Whether you find this acceptable or not, it's not the point of this thread. Rather, toward a certain other controversial point:

What about fictional sexual content that depict minors?

Mind you, I'm not talking merely about sexual intercourse itself. Suggestive poses, questionable attire and such is also included here. For a reference, I'm talking about drawings, computer-made graphics and some other media that isn't real-life (which would fall into the category of child porn and therefore, it's illegal in most if not all countries).

What's your stance about this content? Would you block it if you had the chance? Heavily alter it to accomodate for your country ethics? Or rather, leave it be the way it is?

I won't tolerate any kind of insult in this thread, nor stealth sly digs. If you don't have nothing to contribute, or are unable to create healthy discussion, then I must ask you to refrain posting here.

It should be blocked in my opinion

I can very well see Nintendo's stance on this and I can't fault them. For all the poohaa that niqab wearing women get for 'veiling themselves' we often don't see we're constantly encouraging women and girls to wear progressively less and less in western (and some eastern) society.

You wear what you want, but this kind of 'socio-cultural pressuring' is wrong. I'm not against nakedness, but here it really serves no purpose other then to deliver some fanservice.

Everything is allowed in fantasy. Period.

If you want to censor your own work, do it. But don't pretend you're doing it for someone else.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Myself; no (unless it had been straight up sex, because.....). However had I been in charge of Nintendo (not really as much Sony or MS, because they don't have the same "family friendly" image that Nintendo has) then yes.

Who's the content designed for? If it's meant for adult oriented meterial. And I don't just mean pornographic material. It could be literal only material. Such as this. Then no. It shouldn't be blocked for those people. These are fantasy, no real people, in no realistic positions. This isn't REAL child pornography. It's a fantasy. Now if it's in material that is meant to be used by people under adult age. It shouldn't be in there to begin with.

If this is blocked. Then all odd things should be blocked too. Because Anyone could be aroused over things you don't considered "wrong". So were does the censorship stop then? Do you not allow certain lamp cover shapes? Because someone jerked off to it. Since it looked like a breast. An adult knows what's right and wrong in life. There doesn't need to be someone else saying I can't use a 20 foot dildo gun launcher, in Saints Row IV. In one country.

The 18+ cut off isn't the rule. Most places in Europe set their ages in the range of 14 to 16. I dunno what the age of consent in Japan is, I wouldn't be surprised if it's 13. Nintendo HAS TO to avoid breaking laws, what they are doing has to be done, it's not a choice.

I worded that poorly. Nintendo is not breaking the law per se. But it will lead to an inevitable bad publicity and unnecessary headache. Someone like Anita is gonna make a video that goes viral and people will get increasingly anal and so on. In a way, Nintendo has to do something about it for their own sake.

It is 13.

That's illegal in most first world countries.

I wouldn't censor that just because I think some of the best artists out there like to toy with censorship to send a message. And also because kids are sexualized beings and the taboos around that are doing a lot of wrong to the said kids. Also Kodomo no Jikan was genius (manga not anime).

Censorship should be aboutthe artist's message and not directly target content.
