Forums - PC Discussion - Rocksteady giving away free games and DLC with Batman: Arkham Knight Steam purchase

Oh the desperation. I hope no one buys it.

Around the Network

That's an outstanding apology.

bet: lost

All 4 of those games, or just one of those 4? That's unfair considering the pc version of AK dropped as low as £12 on CDKEYS

I actually see it as a really bad deal considering Origins was also a bad port and most gamers on Steam have the other and more older games by now thanks to many Steam sales throughout the years those games have been up there. Rather than cutting down on the base game or giving the season pass for free WB decided to save face and simply go for the one angle that saves them money but makes them look super generous, you should check out the forums to get the general message of what's going on.

Also the game is still far from being fixed and is still giving people issues as well.

After those 4 months of working on the really bad port, they still couldn't fix the broken mess to a point where it;s stellar than what it originally looked and played like. It looks and feels like they hardly tried as hard as they should and the poor one angle offer is pretty telling if anything, they got their 5 mil sales, they don't give a full damn about those hoping for compensation (actual compensation, not saving face) and a highly optimized game.

After I receive that content from Techland early next year I won't really be purchasing anything directly under or owned by WB, unless it's from the likes of Techland themselves.

From what I've seen in the last 5 hours I definitely don't think they did a good job at all.

Also for those thinking it's universally a good deal to not complain about, please think of those that already own all those old games, they are excluded from the already timed deal entirely and this get zip in return.

You were generally able to get a refund.
Steam offered refunds as did GMG.

CDkeys was selling the game for like 23$/ £14.90 almost 2 months before it came out.

Just because games were available for cheap, doesn't mean the company has to make that up to the people that paid 60$.  Especially when it comes to a place like CDkeys, which is not an authorized seller of those games.

So I'm not exactly sure what part of this is unfair.  The companies gave many options.

It doesn't seem fair, that they are expected to give anything.  Aside from fixing their product.

It's unfair in the sense that if I as a consumer pay £40 and another person has paid £14, I get one game and he gets that one game + four full games.

Suddenly my purchase has lost value because i could've got the shitty pc version, waited a little bit, then got a fixed version plus four free games for 1/3 the price.

This option wasnt available before. If I knew i'd be getting 5 games for cheaper i'd have gone with that. So no, i didn't have an option.

This promotion is still going on for the next 2 weeks.  Sell it to a friend for 20 or 30$ and buy the game off Cdkeys and get your prize.

"In order to qualify for the free content, players must own Batman: Arkham Knight before 16th November, 2015."

I don't see any reason you should be complaining.

As a PC owner:

1.) offered refunds.

2.) fixed the game

3.) are now offering free games to apologize for the poor port.

As a console owner:

1.) Gave you a great running game

2.) Are still offering a chance to get those free games, despite never being affected by the issues that plagued it.

It's like complaining that someone else's car broke down and saying it's unfair that they got a new car.  Unfair that the car salesmen gave them popcorn and coffee.

I shouldnt have to buy the game again to qualify.

And it's not my fault the PC version is broken. But my value is suddenly decreased because they are offering extreme value to those who paid less.

And your example makes no sense. If two people bought two of the same cars from the same outlet, one guys car is down for 5 days and he gets upgraded for free to an aston martin, thats unfair. We bought the same item, we should get the same result. And so should rocksteady, not demean the purchase for other consumers.

THe thing to note is at the end of the day PC gamers got screwed over big time ont his one game and it's clear it's never going to get fully fixed either so WB resorted to a marketing stint as their means of saying "sorry", in the end this is something geared towards the ones who were wronged, console gamers got a perfectly fine working game and as such do not need or are entitled to such compensation.

This form of compensation for PC gamers however isn't really proper since the majority on PC already own the past 4 games through numerous sales over the eyars and of course it being a marketing stint than say lowering the price of the base game or giving the season pass away as being truly sorry. It doesn't devalue your game ebcause your game was working perfectly fine on consoles, on PC it;s a completely different matter.

It also sucks for PC gamers that they have to buy the broken port first in order to even get the 4 old games and even then it's a limited 2 week offer.

Yes and they should make amends with the buyers of the PC version, but if that devalues my purchase (i.e. i could've got it on pc at the same or lesser price with way more content) then now they've essentially screwed me over. Sales don't matter, end of the day they are getting 5 full games for the price of 1/2 of one, and I got one of those games for the price of one of those games just because I chose ps4.

Again you chose the console evrsion which had no issues at all, it's been a known major issue with PC for months, compensation was an absolute must for any company to give out and of course it was going to happen for this game. It doesn't really matter that you simply didn't know they were going to get 4 old games (old being the key focus here) because you would have played them by now or owned them in general, Origins wasn't that much of a great port from the other ones. Really you should have nor feel like your working game is devalued because another platform got seriously gyped out of a functioning product, if that's honestly how the world worked then everyone should get compensated for nothing even if they have a working product and we all know that's not how it works and wouldn't work in general.

The offer is limited anyway so PC users are still getting gyped because it;s both a limited offer, they still have to pay full price like you do for the game and season pass while also suffering from a still busted port to add to that and lastly most users already have the old games listed in their offer which of course expires in 2 weeks, really they are still more gyped than ever while you still have a functioning product.

If you really just want to hop to one platform because it got a bad port and are only seeking to reap on compensation then I don't think gaming is for you. If you want cheaper titles and more sales and actual good ports when effort is thrown in then go for PC (it sounds liek you would have if you saw the future going by what you said about "would have gotten it on PC").

It doesn't matter. Soon the pc version will have no issues, so person a and b will have bought the same game. There's no reason why console players shouldn't get a free game or two too. PC players' purchase aren't being devalued from warner bros giving everyone extra content. But if you give it to one section of your customers, the others lose out on what they could've got. I got a full working game but I paid a price significantly higher than others for what results in less content
