About damned time!
Actually it's best to be positive. I'm happy to see a re-commitment to the principle reason this site exists. It's great that there is now an apprentice chart-meister and I think almost everyone has a great deal of respect for Machina and is confident in his integrity and genuineness of his efforts.
In a time of transition of responsibilities and transfer of skills and competencies there will always be mis-steps and glitches. What's important is to know that there is now a clear commitment to delivering on the core purpose of this website and what makes it a uniquely interesting website to frequent, which facilitates gaming industry analytical discussions that are simply not possible on other gaming websites. During this difficult period of a lack of up-to-date data it has been very hard to engage in these analytical discussions and I look forward to a return to these sorts of topics.
I think the idea of "open source" community data collection that can help refine the accuracy of data is a good one. I think more transparency, especially around adjustments can only be a good thing. I would actually like the "data team" to open an adjustments thread whenever adjustments are made to outline the additional sources of data, especially community sourced data, that contributed to the adjustments. Doesn't have to be specific like "Michael Pachter told me...", can just be "additional industry analyst data". Transparency, without giving the game away, is always a good thing for enhancing site credibility.
