Forums - Gaming Discussion - Anita Sarkeesian: An Assassin's Creed Syndicate Review

Oh dear, so that con artist has actually started reviewing games, from her 'oh look at me, poor victimized woman' perspective...not that I believe for one second that she actually plays any of them.

Anyone care to post a transcript? I have no desire to give this person any views (how many are there btw?).

She didn't review the game, really. Nothing about game or story. She mainly talked about the lead female character and how little she was in the game compared to the male protagonist.

How many views btw? I'd like to think people have learned to ignore Anita's opinion.

I didn't pay attention to how many views she had on the vid but I bet a good portion of it is from stuff like this. She breeds negativity in others. I'll just be ignoring her.

I think I'm going to learn how to code over the next year and make the most over the top, sexist indie game of all time and dedicate it to her. Not even kidding.

Would anyone post a summary or is just feminism bs? Pretty useless review? Will they count her score for metacritic, won't care.

This is not a rewiew. It's more along the lines of an editorial on gender balance in Assassins Creed Sydicate with a little bit of general backround info about the game thrown in. Wich would be fine, if she had labeled it as such.

I consider myself pretty open to peoples observations and opinions, and usually think you can take some value away from hearing diffrent opinions even if you don't sgree with them, but even I had to roll my eyes at her scoffing at the games 'violence'.
While it may be true that the assassins creed formula is tired and unispired, you're still playing an assassin. Of course theres going to be violence. It's in the feaking name. Come on!

That said, a diplomacy/negoation/threat/extortion system with branching choices and active problem solving, that lead you to diffrent, possibly non-violent, or really really violent outcomes, would be an interesting gameplay mechanic. It also would require effort. And good writing. Not Ubisofts staples.....

That did not help me understand whether this game is good or not.

More like a commentary on the characters from a feminist perspective. Considering games are still a relatively weak story telling medium, I couldn't care less about the characters.

This is like a car review that focuses entirely on whether the manufacturer has gone out of their way to target a specific demographic. It doesn't help those considering a purchase at all.

The feminist perspective is kind of the point though. I mean, that is the point of her entire channel. Do people not understand this concept? I still don't get all the animosity towards her. Even if you disagree with her, I still don't get why people are so riled up about her.

She will say those games weren't tailored to women so she won't play those games.

That's feminism in a nutshell. Females need to be first, otherwise they will piss in everybody's cereal. Equal rights for all? Bullshit.
Instead of whining and messing with the mainstream gaming industry, why don't these SJWs make their OWN games and have their way in them? Make them anything you like. See if anyone buys them. That's how it works. Don't screw the rest of us over because you don't like the same content that we do. Don't even dare to try and dictate to other people what they SHOULD like and SHOULD want.
Make your own stuff. See if it sticks. It will get what it deserves, nothing more, nothing less.

Not exactly a review, but she didn't really say anything worth getting worked up over either. She mostly praised the game's characters and writing, and as far as gameplay goes she basically said AC is AC at the end, which is really all that needs be said.

Obviously not the most helpful video in the world for gamers trying to decide whether to give the game a go or not, but there's nothing worth making a fuss about here either. I have seen far worse "reviews" from people who have absolutely nothing to do with feminism, SJWs or whatever the case may be. Reviewers that actually go up on Metacritic and the like. Many of which claim things that are just straight up factually incorrect.
