Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Does the removal of lingerie outfits from Fatal Frame in the West annoy you at all?

Annoys me a lot. This is a serious mature game(Bayo in comparison has a lot of humor with posing and all, so additionnal Ninty costumes quite fit, are acceptable, and are just bonuses, not replacements).
They put some kiddie costumes in Fatal Frame, I don't think it fits this game, when the original ones were intended as a reward for beating the game. I don't wanna beat the game to have these western outfits.

Sure it looks like an immature and pervy reaction to be annoyed by that, but they broke the purpose of these. If it was some...idk...Lingerie but more covered, showing less pixels of the girls' bodies, I would've been more okay with it.

Now if they made the original lingerie outfits avaiable through DLC(which isn't right, I mean I'd rather choose on purchase which ones I want), I would forgive them.

It may be annoying to some but it was smart move on Nintendo's part. One of the characters is listed as 17, and is the Gavure Idol. And that is below age in a lot of countries. And before someone say it's just underwear, in the US they use to have all ages of underwear models until the laws changed and publishers got into trouble for having children in underwear. So they removed them. I think the matter was litigation and not being arrested for pedophilia, they didn't want people suing them.

So it more of something to legally protect themselves from having litigation brought up because of it, so the problem is more of the laws of said countries instead of Nintendo unilaterally deciding to censor something just for the kicks.

Lingerie is essentially sexualised underwear so I'd love someone to try and remove the sexual connotations, especially since it doesn't contextually fit into the game...

I generally dislike sensoring, especially by region but the thing regarding the characters age seems sensible reasoning enough

What annoys me is seeing how low this franchise has become. Who is responsible for this crap??? Must be Fucking Nintendo since I don't see this series of other platforms anymore. They were so good on the xbox/ps2.

Actually one of the directors of the series was the reason 4 and 5 were developed on Nintendo consoles, as he saw potential in the remote and gamepad. So Nintendo took part in the development of both. And for the record, 4 was also excellent ; )

Yeah, I don't think game companies should be doing this.
If it's really a concern, they could make you click on "I am 18 years or older" when you download a DLC.

Doesn't matter. Game is already rated mature. Nintendo decided to remove outfits and alter scenes because they felt the need to hop on a high horse.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

I've got to say, those censored outfits are awesome. Heck, I'd even try them on me.

It's such a shame that Nintendo does these things, really. It annoys me indeed, especially because I love having tons of unlockable costumes for the characters in the game. Don't know why, but I've always liked it when you can customize an apparently non-customizable Main Character; I like it so much it incentives me to replay the game from beginning to end again just with this new outfit unlocked.

This one looks...perfect:

Shame on you, Nintendo. Shame on you.

That's probably because we came from an era of non-DLC unlockables, where "completing" a game truly was a thing.

I don't care at all but I really am curious as to what their reasons were because this is an M rated game for you know... mature audience...

You guys do realize how shallow you're being, right? Not buying a game that was very close to not coming out here at all because they replaced skimpy outfits with less skimpy outfits is a hilariously stupid reason to change your mind. Nintendo is stupid for having barely released it, yes, but that doesn't mean you should be stupid and make sure they don't release the sequel in the West too.

now i admit i think people should still buy the game but take to social media and ask NoA to release the costumes as free DLC and to tell them to never do this again cause boycotting could send the wrong message since it would seem pretty vague.

Only moron companies would not get why the boycot happened.

Definitively. Nothing like beating old games to total completion and being rewarded for it.

Nintendo can't really complain why some people see their games only for kids. They don't take the adult gamers seriously.

Eek, naked women, whatever will I do??
