Forums - Movies & TV - Star Wars: The Force Awakens Final Trailer

I think I asked it again but I'll ask again: Are these movies based on the books available? So people who read the books already know what will happen?

Around the Network

I'm not over excited for the movie, but the trailer gave me goosebumps

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

They specifically said they dropped everything concerning the expanded universe, like all books, comics ect...

Only the existing movies count as lore for the new one.

I'm asking the posters here because the trailer could literally have been any movie.

Me! Raised on the originals since I was a kid.  I can't wait!!

But don't mind me.  I like the prequels, too.

Ok. Because unless you're a fan, I don't see anything to be excited about. It's not like they showed anything amazing.

Meh. So the movies are something different from what people can already read on jedipedia and this stuff. Great (not).

I mean, I can understand it from a monetary point because people don't have the option to spoil other people and to hurt cinema income but seriously, for "real" SW fans that consumed everything surrounding it, I can see that they are disappointed by this.

I think it is better that way. Otherwise the majority of people would just be confused by charackters and plot-related events that reference stuff they have never heard about.

This new movie needs to be simple and straight forward, not a convolutred mess like the prequel trilogy where people got confused by new characters that were previously introduced in the clone wars series.

If this movie is a success, they can go with a more detailed approach from there.

They really do not need to show anything amazing and to be honest for a trailer probably would be best to keep it in the movie.  Being Star Wars alone is enough to get people into the theaters from there the movie will sell if it lives up to the expectations.

Personally I find living in the past limits a movie or story especially since that story arc is done.  I rather access this movie from what it’s trying to build today and the future of the franchise then live in the past because no matter how nostalgic people are about the previous movies, by today’s standards they would be average movies at best.

I grew up watching all the Star Wars movies, played all the games, read all the comic books and novels.  When I look at this trailer I see they are trying to kick start the new series like the old.  A beginning where someone average finds that they have a destiny far greater than they thought their life would be.  It could be good or bad, but at least it looks like it probably will be entertaining.  The trailer is only giving people enough information to let them know the characters from the original is in this new movie.  I believe it would be a waste to add anything more that should be discovered within the movie instead of spoiling it early.

Being Star wars alone was enough to get me in the theaters for episode 1. Not anymore after that though. This trailer doesn't look anything special to me. I'll still get it on blu-ray or blue-4k when available, no rush.

I'm super hyped for this. I think it looks more serious and less corny than the new trilogy was.... I swear, if there's a jar jar banks equivalent character in this, I will stop watching immediately.

I don't know how you can be hyped about a movie that decided to go all "pc" for the sake of sales. What two US demographics have always, by in large anyway, ignored Star Wars? Women? Yes. African Americans? Yes. So, HEY!! Let's put those two as the main protagoists and...MONEY!

It is so obvious.. so plain to see, that I don't know how anyone can't help but feel played at this point. I know I do.

so what you're saying is the movie is not good because there's a black lead actor and a woman. You are selling this movie short because no Star Wars movie before ever had a black actor or a woman in it. I think you need to go back and rewatch the original Star Wars movies and the new series of movies, they all had a black actor and women. Im also curious why did you single my response out of everyone who said they are hyped for this movie.
