In my opinion, if there are enough games you want, buy it. Worrying about a new system and it's hypothetical games and hypothetical abilities is, IMO, silly. And unless you are struck with poverty this next year or two, it's not like you couldn't buy the NX then. It's not as if the launch of the NX will make the Wii U's library evaporate. For me, there were plenty of games out and coming to justify the purchase. The whole idea of waiting for NX for me has two problems: 1) even if it is BC, the backlog will be rather large and 2) we still don't have details one what the NX is. If it's "a whole new experience," backwards compatibility of any kind could be out of the question. But I will say wait until December to and see if they cut their price. Or until Amazon has a sale.

If you say so, but the PS4 is a sure thing while the NX or wii U is a maybe, you know you gonna get your share of games with the PS4 from every developers
Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Do you have a proove for that |
well, one cant be 100% sure. however its based on what we see today in the market and what nintendo logically can do.
WiiU uses PowerPC architecture, which is something rarely seen in the market nodays. PS4 and XB1 use X86 architecture. which is seem in pretty much all PC's. AMD, Nvidia and Intel proccessors and GPU's. Nintendo could make a more powerfull machine, with a cheaper price and easier to develop for using X86 architecture, not PowerPC. so its most likely they will go with an X86 architecture for the NX.
what that means is that it will be VERY hard for NX to have backwards compatibility. because they dont use similar chips and architecture. however, never say never, the 360 is PowerPC based and XB1 is X86. but the backwards compatibility is through emulation, not real BC. and its much harder and time consuming to do.
Octane said: Why even buy the NX? I think you should wait another 5 years until Nintendo announces their next system after that. In all seriousness; If you want to play Wii U games, get a Wii U. Simple as that. Sure you could play the waiting game, but who knows when they announce the NX and who knows if it'll be backwards compatible. Everyone's so worked up about that thing. |
^ Exactly. You listed a great amount of games there with already an asounding library that the Wii U has to offer. And are you telling me that you're not hyped for Xenoblade Chronicles X?
Get a Wii U now. NX won't come before 2017.
If you like the available and upcoming WiiU games go for it, there is no guarantee NX will be backwards compatible and you would have to wait at least 1-2 years without playing these games otherwise.
If you find a good bundle and you can't wait to play these games, I would buy a Wii U.

Not going to happen. At least not at launch.

..but I thought it was going to be digital only. |
It will. Digital BC. The Wii U eshop will be the basis for the NX eshop, and all your digital purchases will transfer over.
