I suppose if every MC in video games was a gay character then that would probably do it for me but I don't know what else.

Interesting games stop coming out. But I think I'll always find something to enjoy even if I get tired with mainstream gaming. If not I'll just play my old games, got plenty of those to go through.

The day that Earth stands still, and humanity goes back to live in caves without any form of electricity, then I stop gaming.

Mainly, if games get bad and the quality drops like crazy with no more interesting games..

or if gaming was verrrry expensive and they have a big crack down on emulation and pirating

Making console games digital only and having all games requiring an internet connection would be a serious blow to the hobby ...

What would really drive the nail in the coffin for me though is the industry adopting cloud gaming and a subscription model. They can shove DLCs or micro-transactions up my behind along with whatever previously mentioned things but not been able to own a copy of my games anymore means I won't take part in participating with one of my pastimes ...

That been said, I don't see myself quitting gaming anytime soon in the foreseeable future ...

If my thumbs stop working and I can't get new comfortable ones, then its time to find another hobby.

Even if the industry stops making new games I find interesting,, I will just keep on replaying my favorite video games like I always do.

My interests come and go but the thing that would make me quit gaming would be other time consuming hobbies.

I work, I have a time consuming relationship, and my biggest hobby right now is playing guitar. I've had other big hobbies in the past that could come back one day.

Despite this I still have time for some gaming every now and again - even if I'm not close to being "with it" in terms of playing current high profile games like many of you young whippersnappers.

If games dropped in quality to the point were they aren't even worth playing, they're are not innovative at all, consistently broken at launch, micro-transactions are used in literally every single game, and more content is locked behind a paywall, and games are all digital.

I probably would just go back to playing old games though, since I don't think I'd ever fully quit.

Hmm...probably if the industry started moving towards a subscription model, I'd be less inclined to keep up this hobby. I'm sure it'd work for some people, but I'm more the kind of person that enjoys squeezing his games dry for months on end, or coming back to his games years down the line, rather than jumping from game to game. I also prefer to own my games. Digitally or physically doesn't really matter to me, just as long as I'm not dependent on a company's servers or my internet connection to play the games I like. Simply renting games doesn't really work for me.

Like I said, I'm sure it'd work for some people, but I really don't anticipate a subscription model being worthwhile for me.

Yeah, this. If it ends up being streaming only. I frankly don't care anymore. I don't play games all the time as it is. But paying for a year, when I only actually play for a month is really worthless. Physical copies are dead. Also, if Nintendo goes under because of them keep doing stupid crap. Starts the chain of events of not caring.

loss of both arms and eyesight. anything short of that won't be enough to stop me.
