It is a good move. Playboy is classy and will work better as a lifestyle magazine. The brand recognition can improve from here on.

That said they should have a mega final nude issue.

I agree, playboy always has been the classy nude mag, and if they do a mega nude finale, I'll buy it just to put it away. May be worth something years later.

First off, that's very asinine of them. They need more nudity in the mag and less ads. They are fascinated with breasts as much as any 12 year would be. It's a really tame nude magazine compared to other mags like penthouse and hustler. It's not that the internet that did this, it's their unwillingness to adapt to younger generations and what they want in a mag that is responsible for declining sales.

I see what you mean, and I agree. Times have changed, and that's probably why they've lost so much in terms of sales. I don't know how well the likes of penthouse and hustler are performing, but I haven't seen anything to indicate they're not doing well. But, I can see why playboy wouldn't want to become another hustler or penthouse, playboy's always been the classy mag, and the others are more known as the dirty mags. Their reluctance may have been their undoing, in part atleast.

Rename the magazine then

They should, but then they lose name recognition. That would be like starting over, which I guess they already are. They always had good articles, and I did like to read them after looking at the nudes first, so I think they do have a solid base to work off of. I personally don't think they'll do well, but, that's just one opinion.

porn is just so accessible now via the internet. while i'd never pay for any porn i frankly wouldn't even look at still pics when video is so much more,.. useful.

by dropping the nudity they'll make the magazine more "accessible" as many people won't feel the shame and guilt of being seen looking at porn. as a lifestyle magazine they at least have a chance to find a new more successful niche.

That's true, porn is so accessible, that by doing nothing, they will fade faster. It is a well written mag, and only time will tell if they can carve a niche in their new form.

So it's not playboy anymore.

No.

It's become Playman.

It'll be called, oh boy....

Haven't read a Playboy since like the 90's. I did, however, buy a lot of issues of "Stuff" and "FHM". They were hilarous and offered some great advice. I even subscribed to Stuff at one point. This is a new age so maybe it's the best way to go. I mighteven pick up an issue out of curiosity.

Yeah, I may pick up a copy too, especially the first copy. I've never heard of stuff, or fhm. I tend to live under rocks at times, so it's no surprise.

Penthouse and hustler do better than playboy. They can compete with the porn on the internet because they often have exclusive content of pornstars. Also, alot of pornstars break out through those mags.

Playboy could become today's classy instead of the 1950's classy. Showing women's tits was taboo or raunchy back in the day but today, that's very boring. If Playboy would have the "classy" women (like actresses, female athletes, singers, ect)  in full nudity in poses that show a lot more in their mag, it would be massively popular. Women like that would never pose in actual porn mags but Playboy might be able to sway them.
