You guys think they got paid to bad mouth Uncharted 4? but somehow ended up mistakeing the 2nd game for the 4th?

Because it sounds like thats what your saying.

What? No, I said they did it to cause damage. I know it's difficult to believe but there are people in the industry who aren't saints and don't need an incentive to play silly buggers. Hits are hits and we all know how much sites like hits. I just cannot believe an 'Uncharted veteran' wouldn't realise they were playing a game they'd played before. Unless of course the person who wrote the article was also lying about being a veteran

Most likely situation, I think. You don't want your readers to suspect you don't know what you're talking about, so masking their displeasure with "I've played the games so I know a thing or two" is probably common, since people can't generally disprove that you played the game, since it's opinion-based. Even if 200 other people didn't think that Uncharted 4 (or 2, in this case) was re-treading the same ground or whatever, it's not out of the realm of possibility that this particular person thought so.

I can't imagine anyone mistaking Uncharted 4 for Uncharted 2 if they've actually played the games. That said, I'm sure this debacle have gotten them a big load of hits, but I don't subscribe to the "there's no such thing as bad publicity" train of thought. This is not something people are going to forget soon.

Subtle Uncharted 2 is amazing article?

I wonder if this apology got more hits than the original article. xD

Now I'm curious if someone is actually eating crow because of this apology. xD

I'm actually crying with laughter!? How did this happen??

I do not believe them one little bit. They hoped to cause damage and now they're just apologising in order to hide that fact. There is absolutely no way whatsoever that you could confuse a last generation Uncharted with what we've seen so far of Uncharted 4.

Agreed. I think it's pretty clear they were paid to mistake this as Uncharted 4 just to make the Nathan Drake Collection look all that more impressive. There is absolutely no what whatsoever that you could confuse a last generation Uncharted with what we've seen so far of Uncharted 4.

Well played, VG247. Well played.

In this day and age, with the Internet, ignorance is a choice! And they're still choosing Ignorance! - Dr. Filthy Frank

I hope this guy reviews the next Call of Duty.

"A nice step back from Advanced Warfare. The Duck AI is the best in the series, though your dog buddy isn't really helpful. The graphics don't seem too impressive, but maybe it's just me. I haven't seen a big leap since the NES anyway."

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

I played the 3 uncharted, and I love the series, but really I had a hard time remembering which one was the 2nd. I played it 6 years ago, the 3 games have very similar patterns (not blaming it), and it's not the last one I played. I'm not journalist and I don't pretend to be a veteran, but I can understand someone could make the mistake... also, he apologized !

Wow, some of these replies are insane.

Person makes a mistake, publicly apologizes, and now everyone is claiming that all of journalism is dead. REALLY???

Suddenly this one error by one gaming publication that admits they made a mistake is proof to show metacritic is a bad system?!

people have thought poorly on game journalism for a long time now.  this one massively embarrasing mistake from a "professional" journalist and uncharted "vetran" is just fodder for the "game journalists are dumb as bricks only only write sensentionalist headlines not thoughful content" movement.

people have been hating on gaming journalism for a long time now, that much is true. I was referring to how this one thread exploded into "gaming journalism is a joke." I thought people would know by now that one instance is not a good indicator of an industry.

It's like looking at superman 64 (made by a "proofessional" developer) and saying "all n64 games were trash, and all professional developers suck."

no its nothing like that at all-  gaming jouranism is already known as a joke and less than ethical-  this mistake is just a crowning "achievment"

why are you trying to redirect the obvious?

Sounds like a mistake that anyone could make when given a very short play session (probably 20 minutes) with a remaster of a game like Uncharted. I mean, there are memorable areas but then there are also formulaic sections.
