What? No, I said they did it to cause damage. I know it's difficult to believe but there are people in the industry who aren't saints and don't need an incentive to play silly buggers. Hits are hits and we all know how much sites like hits. I just cannot believe an 'Uncharted veteran' wouldn't realise they were playing a game they'd played before. Unless of course the person who wrote the article was also lying about being a veteran. |
Most likely situation, I think. You don't want your readers to suspect you don't know what you're talking about, so masking their displeasure with "I've played the games so I know a thing or two" is probably common, since people can't generally disprove that you played the game, since it's opinion-based. Even if 200 other people didn't think that Uncharted 4 (or 2, in this case) was re-treading the same ground or whatever, it's not out of the realm of possibility that this particular person thought so.
I can't imagine anyone mistaking Uncharted 4 for Uncharted 2 if they've actually played the games. That said, I'm sure this debacle have gotten them a big load of hits, but I don't subscribe to the "there's no such thing as bad publicity" train of thought. This is not something people are going to forget soon.
