Its actually pretty sad that this is even up for debate. Every time a Halo game came out, it was a 100% win for MS. Now, it is a totally different picture. Sure Halo 5 will easily have a 3 million+ opening, and it will push hardware, but in a somewhat insignificant level.

Never the less, IMO MS will win it, both HW and SW wise, but it will be one of the weaker victories for arguably their strongest franchise.

It wasn't a win during Halo 1 and 2.

I have been working under the idea that Halo fans are MS' s core XB fans. I believe that is the group that has been heavily adopting XB1 with Titanfall, MCC and price drops. I believe that Halo 5 will increase sales notably but it won't be anything world shattering. Halo is not even "the big dog" in its launch window. CoD,  Fallout, and possibly even Star Wars BF will outshine it hype and sales wise.

This is the first Halo of the gen. Its going to sell consoles. If this was the second Halo game, i'd be inclined to agree.

You are absolytely right and Halo is just hype to make it seem biggeer tan it actually is.The Halo fanbase already bought the Xbox.

Well, there you go.
Nobody bragged about #1 at SW though.. Ps4 was ahead on all multiplats but X1 had Halo 5 on top. Must have been closer than I thought.

And......Microsoft wins Octobers NPD as I said. Its time to stop underestimating the power of Halo and Tomb Raider helped. Sony has no defense for Microsoft outside of their hype. If they fight back its purely on hype right now.
