For real, I'm not so crazy for season passes, but if the extra content is worth it, I guess it's not a problem...

What's the problem here exactly? Do you realize Activision made people pay for 3 full priced games for one sequel (Starcraft 2).

How much does it cost to play WoW for a year? 15x12 = 180$ <- and that's without any added content.

How much money can you blow on free to play games like Hearthstone?

How much did people pay to play the 10 hour campaign for the Order?

I already preordered the basic edition and if the maps look promising then I will buy the pass. It's not hard. If you like the game, if you have fun with the game, then you pony up the money.

Well you are describing the problem very well.

It is not a problem.  It is a business stategy that has proven to work so companies are sticking with it.   Getting them to change is not easy.  Just like it isn't easy to get corporations and big money out of politics or how it is not easy to talk sense into private pharmaceutical companies.

Don't like how the season pass costs $50? Don't buy it. Just wait for the DLC packs to come out and decide on an individual basis on whether any specific DLC pack is worth owning. All a season pass is is basically pre-buying all the DLC, sometimes at a discount (e.g., buying all four DLC packs for CoD:AW costs $60 vs. $50 for the season pass). Hell, I bought the season pass for Halo 4 (rather, I bought the special edition that included the season pass) because I knew I was going to be getting all the map packs anyway.

I'm sure most people are aware of what a season pass is. The problem seems to be the amount they charge for the DLC while shipping us a much less complete game compared to it's prequel. This time there's no single player campaign, Galactic Conquest or Epic Star Battles, among other things.
Some of those things may be sold to us in DLC form instead. I haven't looked into it so I'm not sure. But here's a checklist to compare.

While "don't buy it" is the right approach if you want to make a statement, or simply find it too pricey, that doesn't mean there's never any room for criticism in how publishers chose to price and market their game. And with popular franchises like this, chances are the people who try to get their voices heard by holding off on buying it might hardly get noticed if a huge amount of people still buy it. Which signals these companies that it's ok to cut up and sell a game to us in bits and pieces, and encourages them to push the boundries even further to see how much they can get away with.

That first picture with the table comparison says it all. So peed off right now (might also be due to not having eaten and being on a 3.5hr train journey to a place called Rochdale).

We need a hashtag to make this a thing with all overpriced dlc. Where are the bloody activists?!

And the Deluxe Edition which I was super excited for is actually Deluxe bull. Cant believe they are charging £10 extra for on disc weapons and stupid emoji. 1/5 the price of the game just to get stuff that should already be in the game.

Sadly that comparison chart says it all, which is why we all need to be more critical before its release.

Critical and active. I love how the gamers being active got together and made the developer and publisher cut the crap with the new Deus Ex game

Judging from that comparison chart posted earlier in the thread, this game is starting to look like Destiny: Star Wars Edition. It'll still sell a ton of copies, especially on PS4 with which the game has an exclusive marketing deal... again, just like Destiny.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

So, you have to pay $110 to play the full game (which is still not complete)? Amazing, pretty amazing.

I liked the beta but I'll wait for a BIG price drop to pick it up. Won't be paying more than $40 for a MP only game with locked content. Sorry EA, won't be buying your always online NFS too.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

It was only a matter of time and so we have it. EA has announced the season pass that will come in at £40/$50 and contain 4 expansion packs which will be announced later.

It's bad enough it has no SP campaign, the player count has been reduced and they have a rip off delux edition, but now this.

I don't mind season passes as long as you get value from them. The best example I can think of is Drive Club where the amount of free cars, tournaments, trophies and vinyls at £20 gave us more than 100% extra content.

I'm not saying every game should do this, but the level of transparency of exactly what we will get, when and the cost of it all was consumer friendly. Here we have another season pass on half a game that comes in almost at the full cost of the game with zero details.

How does that make you feel? Will it change your decision to buy the game?

If you paid for it, it wasn't free. But I suppose people will know what you mean.

If I ever buy this game it will be the "GOTY" (though I doubt it will actually win any GOTYs not even a best game based on Star Wars GOTY because that would go to the leggo game) all DLC included version that comes out this time next year, for 3/4 of the original launch price.

It might be said that people who buy the game this year AND buy the season pass are fools and they deserve to be parted from their money. Of course I would never actually say that, but some people might.
