Forums - Nintendo Discussion - First WiiU emulator available!

"I present to you Cemu. World's first Wii U emulator capable of running and rendering commercial games!

Quick facts:

  • Can run encrypted Wii U images (WUD) and RPX/RPL files
  • Internal resolution is 1920x1080 (if supported by game)
  • For controller input see here.
  • Contains basically no optimizations. Expect slow framerates and long load times.
  • Windows x64 only (other platforms may be supported later)
  • Requires OpenGL 3.3
    • Tested on NVIDIA: Runs fine on most recent driver
    • Tested on Intel: Garbled output but runs if OpenGL version is supported
    • Untested on AMD

Download:

Version 1.0.0 (Win x64)

FAQ:
Can the controller be configured?
Not yet, it's locked to using the GamePad via keyboard. Proper controller support will come in a future release.

Can I run extracted games?
No, when launching a Wii U executable directly (.rpx) no external files are supported. If you want to run a game, it needs to be in raw dump format (WUD or ISO).

Is there supposed to be sound?
No, audio is not yet supported.

What's next?
The current plan is to release new updates at least every two weeks. A more detailed roadmap is in the works."

I am surprised to see it that late, honestly. I expected someone to take Dolphin and adjust it for WiiU. We now have no idea who is behind this emulator and how it can be in such a good state that early if it was built from scratch.

The beginning of the end of the end.

Okay, that is interesting. I hope WiiU emulation gets going soon, but I don't know how are you supossed to imitate the gamepad functions.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Finally, in the near future we can be able to rip all the models from Devil's Third, Bayo and other games.

Did the PS3 got it already?

PS3: https://github.com/RPCS3/rpcs3

Has playable games, check on Youtube.

Xbox 360: https://github.com/benvanik/xenia

Has playable games, check on Youtube.

Edit: Both are far from complete like Dolphin, of course.

Well, is gonna take years and a Nasa computer until it runs fine, and even there the wiiu gamepad is not posible to use unless you put some kind of akward split screen and using the mouse instead of your hand to touch it.

I don't think there are functional emulators for PS3 and 360 yet. PS3 has a very complicated architecture, it will take years to make a fully functional PS3 emulator. As for the 360, there are some that can play a handful of titles, but that's it.

Sure, because the Xbone is a NASA computer which is able to emulate the 360.

Oh but that´s some kind of magic that Microsoft did there with their own technology, usually you need to have a computer that is ridiculously more powerfull than the real console in order to have a decent emulation of its games, and this happens always, I´m sure this performs like shit in a lot of high end PC, and thats with all the bugs, incompatibilities, lack of sound, etc etc because is gonna take years until it performs decently regardless the specs.

emulators have always been for cheap people. pfft buy a real console.
