Xbox 360 Games Could Be Playable On PC Someday, Phil Spencer Says

Xbox boss Phil Spencer wants to further bridge the gap between PC and Xboxgaming. He said in a new interview that he'd love to make Xbox 360 games playable on PC.

During his chat with Gizmodo Brasil, Spencer also reiterated his desire to make games from the original Xbox compatible with Xbox One:
[Xbox games on Xbox One is] something I want to do, but it is a matter of priority. I would love to have the ability to play Xbox 360 on PC at some point too, so we have different things we have to think about when we plan these things. But it would be great to have support for original Xbox games. So yes, I want it, but we have many other things we want to do as well.

The Xbox 360 has a huge library of games so being able to play them on PC would be great. PC owners would also get the chance to try out some great 360 games that never got ported to their platform. They've waited long enough for Red Dead Redemption, the later Gears of War games and the Crackdown series.

Microsoft's priority right now, though, is on making Xbox 360 games compatible with XB1. They plan to launch the feature in November. Xbox One owners will be able to use digital or physical 360 games in their console and play online against Xbox 360 owners. A hundred Xbox 360 games will be playable on Xbox One at that time, with more to come. I wonder at what point they'll consider Xbox 360 compatibility "complete enough" to move onto other projects like Xbox 360-to-PC support.

The chances of these other compatibility projects were probably improved by the huge reaction to Xbox 360 support on Xbox One when it was announced at E3. Spencer admitted to Gizmodo Brasil that he was shocked how excited fans were about backwards compatibility:
I was ... more than surprised. The team that made the backward compatibility of work was in the audience, and it was really cool to see them feeling the fan reaction to the work they were doing.

The Xbox now has a long history, going through the original Xbox, the 360 and the One. It was a great time for people to understand that, as a platform development team, we want to create features that will appeal also to the old Xbox gamers. We will not charge money for backward compatibility not charge subscription, you have the game and can play it on Xbox One. And the reaction was fantastic. Xbox fans are very committed to the brand and franchises. It was surprising, but all the more surprising, was inspiring.

Your not alone ...

The OP probably submitted these threads by accident and now some of them say "close" ...

Anyways, PC ports confirmed for every Xbox 360 exclusive ?

Aren't most 360 exclusives compatible with PC anyway?

Good

Gonna be fun to stream emulated 360 games from X1 to PC.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

If its actually on PC as in Windows 10 and not through a Xbox - fantastic!

This.

Though, I believe that 360 emulation development is already well underway, so I wonder who pulls it off first? I wonder if we'll get a deluge of 360-to-PC ports first - I'd be interested in those really niche Japan exclusives.
