Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Which 360 SKU to buy?

I am considering geting a 360 this summer, but I am unsure whether to get the Elite or the Premium (the difference in price is £190 vs £250).

While I do prefer the black colour, is the 120 HDD really necessary? I have the 60GB PS3 to store videos and photos to view of my TV. I also think the money would be better spent on a game, and I can always buy a black controller seperately. Also, in the UK, which is most likely to be the newer chipset? Because as far as I can tell, there is no HDMI for Premium, which would mean that it is not necessarily a newer model.

I am choosing now cause I don't have much else to do, and I assume that with the price drop, we won't see a new SKU till next year, or christmas at the very earliest

premium is the best in term of price/content

but IF u have enought money then u can buy an Elite (why not after all ?)

...

Time to Work !

I would shoot for an Elite. They have the best build quality and HDMI.

No HDMI for premium? I just purchased my 360 a month ago from Bestbuy, I do not know if things are somehow different in EU, but the premium does indeed have HDMI and 20GB is more than enough. I use it strictly for gaming and the occasional movie download, which gets deleted after the 24 hour rental period.

I was in the same boat as you and to be honest, the extra 100GB just doesn't seem necessary.

If you want it for gaming alone, stick with the 20GB, if you do indeed plan on using it as an all around media device ( I won't... RRoD scares me too much, lol, I have a PS3 for that) I would go for the Elite.

It all matter on preference whether you want 20GB or 120GB + Black casing, hopefully this helps a bit.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

If your planning on buying a ton of games, and I mean a ton! Get the Elite for the space. Personally I would choose the Premium.

Yeah unfortunately I'd go with the Elite too just for the HDMI. Or if you can get a really cheap 20g hard drive buy the Arcade. (I think that has HDMI) But you do want a hard drive, future games might not support online play without it :x Burnout Paradise is the first example I can think of.

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

Games on 360 are not made to utilize the HDD, so why would he need extra space for his 360 games?

@ Chrono

How much space does burnout require?

As a matter of fact, with all the hub bub going around about a new SKU with 60gb standard, just hold off for that. It's almost a guarantee, reminiscent of the 120gb Elite model being outed before release. And it'll have the newest chips and best motherboard revision.

I would say premium. Not enough of a difference to me to justify the elite price difference.

both have HDD's, wireless controllers, headset, hdmi, etc.

Only difference I know of is the 100GBs. Plus, the you can usually find a combo deal on the premium that isn't available with the elite.

Elite is overpriced... insanely too when compared to the Premium.

$100 more for 100GB of space...

Should be an easy choice if he said he uses his PS3 for videos and such. If he does not intend to use the 360 for videos (20GB... 13.1 to be exact for music is more than enough, with left over space for a vast amount of games).

Easiest way to do it... get a 1-2GB USB flash drive for a rock bottom price and just keep your music there. Although personally, I never use the feature.
