Forums - Politics Discussion - Cracked: Why comparing Trump to Hitler makes Perfect Sense

How is taking a stance against illegal migrants related to racism?

Trump literally promised to deport legal Hispanic immigrants too and said that the citizenship by birthright clause of the 14th amendment was wrong. Also he has openly stated that we shouldn't accept the outpouring of Syrian immigrants because they might be ISIS and he promised to deport them too. I'm fairly surprised he hasn't said that blacks should be deported too by this point. But then again, he also thinks he has the black vote in the bag.

Trump has time and again made sexist, racist, and pretty much any other "ist" remarks, and his stance on immigration reform is directly tied to that. Hence the relation to racism.

Did a quick search and couldn't find anything about deporting legal migrants, only undocumented ones, which is very fair. If I come to the U.S without a proper visa, I would expect to be deported. Is that due to racism as well?

For the Syrian refugees, well, there is a legitimate concern there. And it's not like the current administration is doing much to help with the Syrian refugee crisis. I mean only 1,500? Is the Obama administration racist for accepting so few when other countries are taking in tens of thousands?

I know you mentioned blacks to emphasis your point but it's just you being dramatic. End result is that deportation of illegal migrants is fair and happens everywhere.

*yawn* Call me when Trump starts rounding up all the illegals, loads them on trains, and then ships them off to camp where they can do all the hard work normal Americans don't want to do for free.

I'll paraphrase trump here: If you're born in the US and your parents are illegal immigrants, you are not a legal citizen. He's argued that the 14th Amendment is unconstitutional and is arguing that natural born citizens in this situation should be deported. I won't get into the logistics of how difficult it would be to try and find the illegal immigrants and deport them one by one, and the process would very likely have to infringe on the civil rights of legal Hispanic Americans, hence going back to the whole racism issue. But that's another topic entirely.

If someone is born in the U.S., does that person automatically become a U.S. citizen?

Uh, comparing Trump to Hitler is a little odd. Also this looks like it was a written by a 16 year old.

Yes. That was a generality for most Americans solidified for all races by the 14th Amendment.

No like most countries if you are here illegally and have a baby here the child is illegal. The only way the child can be legal if the parents themselves become legal citizens

Look up US v. Wong Kim Ark. Doesn't matter who your parents are, if you're born on US soil* you're a citizen.

*If you're from American Samoa or a few other select territories you're not a citizen but those are outdated outliers.

Parents don't have to be legal in USA.  If you are born on USA soil then you become a citizen.  I wouldn't mind seeing that law changed a little to prevent "anchor babies".  I prefer calling it the walk and drop.  Walk across a border and drop off a kid.  I don't like Trump at all but there needs to be changes to the immigration system because it is broken.

What?! In 2015, countries still have laws like this? In developed countries, usually being born in a country doesn't grant you a legal status in that country. Obviously, those U.S. citizens cannot be deported  - too late for that now. But going forward, it makes sense to change that law.
