Now, let's take a look at the current name for MOBAs: Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas. You can see that they're multiplayer, they're online, they take place in battle arenas. Okay, but that is not a very high level of detail compared to what Aeon of Strife Style Fortress Assault Game Going On Two Sides can accomplish.
Okay, it is a mouthful, but let's run through it.

Aeon of Strife Style Fortress Assault Game Going On Two Sides

Now, first, we see Aeon of Strife. This is a homage to where the games trace their roots - to a mod for Starcraft. This may feel like Rogue-like, but rest assured: many of these games share similarities distinct to the genre - that can be traced to Aeon of Strufe.

From there, we move on to Fortress Assault Game. Here, we see that you have to assault a fortress in-game. This part should stand on its own. There is a fortress, you assault it; though in reality, it is more complex.

Now, we move on two Going On Two Sides. Here, we see that there are actually two sides to the conflict - yours and your opponent's. If you are a player, you may also notice the duality that results from the hero you control and the team - you have to make sure that your individual strength is top-notch, but you must also work with your team as well. You may also notice the duality that results from the nature of the game - the adrenaline rush of a victory against seething rage of  defeat, which may be made more apparent by how some matches can end up one-sided.

Some of you may have noticed by now that the name spells out ASSFAGGOTS. Rest assured, this is actually perfectly fitting to describe the less savory elements of the userbase. It may also describe perfectly reasonable reactions to various situations when playing games in the genre. It is perfectly understandable to lash out at your team after a harrowing loss, to lash out at someone who's trash-talking you in some other language, to lash out at people who shower you with juvenile insults, which may or may not be in your language. This, I believe, may be an apt word of caution for how toxic the userbase can get, but rest assured - this is obviously not intended as an unfair slight against the genre or as a slur.

And, this is why MOBAs should instead be called Aeon of Strife Style Fortress Assault Games Going On Two Sides.

EDIT: The mods are free to edit the thread title as they see fit, as long as the intent of the thread is still made clear - it is within their power, after all. Thank you for your understanding.

1. I don't see people using assfaggots outside of certain communities, despite this name being far superior in terms of detail.

2. I would like to see examples, I'd recognize ASSFAGGOTS as the most recognizable sub-genre of MOBAs if that's the case.

The term "faggot" used in any context is considered a derogatory slur and is not acceptable on this site. Locking thread.
