Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is this the worse game review you've ever read on a reputable site?

Some people say the term "social justice warrior" is unfair or unnecessarily demeaning in some way. I think perhaps this article can be the future counter-argument to that claim.

This guy literally reviews the game based the fact that it doesn't represent how awful prisons really are and instead tries to use them to make a fun game.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to tuck my brain back up my arse.

The writer should be ashamed of using the word "review" in the title. This is an editorial of the writer's thoughts about racism and prisons and the game itself is just a convenient stepping stool he uses to reach his soap box.

Now, excuse me, I'm going to write a review of Pokemon in order to discuss animal cruelty.

It's overly focused on critiquing the themes. I couldn't tell whether the game was fun to play or not.

NZ Gamers review of Majora's Mask 3D is the worst review I've read in recent memory.

This is a reputable site? Never heard of it.

I stopped halfway throught that "review", mostly because it all felt like a 3 page long introduction, but yeah, that wasn't really a review, more like an opinion piece on... something...

That said, it would've been interesting if the devs could incorporate gangs (which are often separated by race) etc. with them clashing sometimes, instead of only the prison riots. Maybe it'll come eventually.

I read the review, and I admitelly laughed out loud at some instances. It is, indeed, one of the worst game "reviews" I've ever had the pleasure (?) of reading. As Pokoko pointed out, the setting of the game merely served for the author to point at an specific agenda, ignoring completely the "reviewing" part.

It isn't, however, the worst review I've ever witnessed. I think this one takes the crown.

I came into this thread expecting to see a variation of the type of stuff we often see crop up in meta threads (which can be essentially summarized as '[x] gave a bad score to a game i like/am looking forward too, thus they are wrong'), but this... This is something special.

This reminds me of that Polygon article where the writer was supposed to talk about Rock Band or something, and instead wanted to talk about "Philippine Politics."

Well, as a Filipino, I was pissed off.

I thought it was a Polygon review. Their reviews are usually pretty bad.
