What the hell happend to Square Enix, and how do we make sure they stay this way?
I know this is offtopic, but it's SE so I thought I should throw it out there.
Does anyone remember those screens from SE of like a concept final fantasy that was set in the feudal japan era and drawn with some awesome watercolor art?

You just glazed over. There has never been a situation where a game has been announced exclusively for Vita in Japan and then the west gets a exclusive console port. The situations are:
1. Announced for PS3/Vita in Japan, but west gets updated ps4 version based off ps3 version
2. Announced for PS4/PS3/Vita in Japan, west gets PS4 version and maaaaybe PS4/Vita
Unless SE announces a console version for Japan DO NOT expect one for west. Nothing in OP or current announcements leads to a "basically pS4 version coming"
