Nintendo no longer in the list of top 100 brands

Posted under General Nintendo, News
October 5, 2015 by Matt (@NintenMaz)

For the first time since the list’s inception in 2001, Nintendo is not part of the world’s top 100 brands. Interbrand, the company compiling the list, looks at the financial performances of companies and how their brands contributed to that and how they are expected to contribute in the future.

Interbrand Japan CEO Yuki Wada said that the reason Nintendo didn’t make the list was because of the company’s failure to keep up with the changes in people’s lives, as evidenced by the fact that they only decided to start releasing smartphone games this year.

My notes: I could've just posted the list of the top 100 brands if the source didn't just state what Nintendo Everything just noted here.
THIS IS IN TERMS OF MARKET VALUE

Minor edit: Apple and Google are no.1, and 2, respectively though you probably don't care. Sony is 58th.

Where does Microsoft rank on this list? It kinda suck that Nintendo is losing brand recognition due to the Wii U's failure :(

Nintendo's brand has taken a lot of damage in the last 5 years. There's no doubt about it. When you make this many mistakes, there are consequences to that.

Around the Network

I expect them to return once the NX comes out.

Can someone link the full list, please?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Dunno if they released the whole list. Probably some NPD type crap where you have to pay for it. What I got from the article was ...

1. Apple

2. Google

6. Toyota

19. Honda

40. Canon

58. Sony

65. Panasonic

When you go from 100 million consoles to struggling to hit 17-18 million in a span of 5 years ... you've fucked up. Somewhere. Somehow. You done fucked up, as they say.

If that happened to the iPhone (they lost 85% of their audience) everyone on Apple's board would be fired. A lot of people on Nintendo's board are fortunate to still have jobs. If that was a Western company almost everyone in an authority position would've been fired.
