Forums - Gaming Discussion - MGSV is one of the best games I've ever played.

So, even with the massive backlash of the fans with MGSV, I managed to buy it on september 10 or so, with my expectations not far from zero, due to all these people who disliked the game and claimed kojima fooled them, I've finally played it. The verdict ? I'm still playing it, after more than 80 hours, and I'm probably gonna 100% it.

I've played every MGS game multiple times (even the awful Peace Walker), I'm a big fan of the series, and the third one, Snake Eater, always was my favorite, but now, I've finally someone to beat it : The Phantom Pain. I'm totally serious.

The gameplay is incredible, the best stealth gameplay ever, the story was as great as ever, the characters's story were sad, complex, frustrating, charming.

The final cutscene of mission 45 almost made me cry, the Quiet story was really touching. The way Huey was revelead to be a incredible liar and monster who only deserved to be thrown out of Mother Base, frustrated me so much, 'cause he was at first one of my favorite characters in the MGS series. The death of Skull Face was fantastic, extremely well narrated, and the boss fight against Sahelanthropus is awesome !

And finally, the mission 46, where all the truth is revealed, and what a truth, absolutely unexpected. The way the game break the fourth wall to say it's the player who builded the legend of Big Boss is probably one of the best scene in the entire history of video games.µ

I've loved Metal Gear Solid V : The Phantom Pain to death. It's the best in the whole series and probably one of the best games I've ever played. I've not been immersed in such a great game since a long time. What a surprise, when almost everyone I know was disappointed by the game.

I wanted to share that, to know if others people are in the same situation as me, or if I'm just a single fool.

I had never played a metal gear game until this one, but I wasn't a big of it. I really tried to like it, but i couldn't. On a technical level, the game is outstanding though. It controls very well and the mechanics are sound. It just wasn't for me.

Is this a joke thread?

Sorry. Maybe you're serious. Considering you've actually played the other mgs games I just find it hard to believe you think mgs5 (clearly one of the worst in the series for me and most mgs fans) is a masterpiece

But hey. That's what opinions are for.

Currently own:

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

Absolutely not a joke. And that's why I made this thread, because it's like the absolute opposite of almost every other people in this planet.

Dude i can't even begin to explain how much i disagree with on that you but as you said that's what opinions are for :)

Glad you like it. I don't get it, but I'm glad you like it. Maybe I'm not the best opinion, as I only played MGS3, but I thought the game was pretty bad, and I lost all motivation to even finish it after like Chapter 15. Without a doubt, one of the most poorly paced games I have ever played, rivaling Skyrim. (Nothing is as bad as Skyrim, though.)

Very good core mechanics, but like Destiny, it's way too repetitive, and there's absolutely no story motivation to play mission to mission. And the gameplay isn't even remotely good enough to warrant playing missions without it. Not for a game as long as MGSV.

I love/hate MGSV. Its tedious but has a lot of great ideas.

Peace Walker was great, I finished it twice.

It's pretty good but it's frustrating how it's not even a finished game. It also has a ton of flaws to go with its good sides. It could be my favorite MGS if it was finished but it's not.
