Forums - Gaming Discussion - Your favorite games or series that rarely get mentioned?

Just like the title says, what are a few games or series that you really enjoy but rarely see getting any love or never even get mentioned on other threads. Dont just say your all time favorite games so no skyward sword or final fantasy x type games just cuz use they get some hate online, they have plenty of fans too. This is your chance to give some exposure to your favorite forgotten or overlooked gems. Here's my top three.

1. Final Fantasy Adventure - My favorite games ever are the handheld 2d zelda's and that's exactly what this game feels like. For those who dont know this game has almost nothing to do with FF, Its actually the first game of the Mana series and is an excellent action rpg game. Combat is fun with a wide variety of weapons and magic, the world map is pretty good sized, it has a great story with some sad moments and the music is so damn good.

2. Baten Kaitos - The best rpg on gamecube imo, I loved everything about this game. I wont say the story is amazing but it's definately good enough to keep you going. The graphics are really nice, lots of color and detail in the different environments which have great variety, every area has its own feel to it. The best part though is the battle system, its very unique as it's all card based. You draw a full hand every turn with cards for attacking, defending, healing and if you play them in the right order can get some powerful combos. Even better, each character has their own fully customizable deck, you can change your strategy as you please, although some people may not enjoy the micromanaging.

3. Zero Escape series - 999 and Virtue's Last Reward, where do I even begin? Its a visual novel type game where your character is kidnapped and forced to play a deadly game with 8 other people in order to escape. The game play consists of lots of reading and occasional puzzle rooms which are lots of fun and usually pretty challenging too, I had to use notes to complete a few. I would say they probably have the best story's in any video games I've ever played, I was so drawn in wanting to know what happens next. The games have multiple endings(24 in VLR!) so lots of replay value. Now I realize these games are not for everyone but if you enjoy professor layton/ace attorney style games and have a 3ds do yourself a favor and give them a chance, and definitely play 999 first if possible.

Well thanks to anyone who took the time to read all that, I look forward to hearing your favorite games!

Advanced Variable Geo. I doubt anyone have heard about it.

Zero escape. This game needs more recognition for its superb storytelling, great puzzles, and excellent performance(in VLR).

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Well, while tecnically the game "has" 24 endings, there actually only one ending, or if you prefer, one true ending. But yeah, the way that each implement one another is excellent

True, I should have mentioned that. At least the "flow" system in VLR makes seeing all of them pretty easy, I love the concept of everything setting up for one final ending.

When we only take Nintendo into consideration. Scrap the AC part, couldn't find the gif without those whiners (last good AC game is from 2013, they shouldn't complain).

Star Tropics.

Because the franchise has been dead for over 20 years :

Company of heroes and monkey island

Zero escape

I wasn't a fan of FF Adventure. I think it was mostly ruined by that stupid puzzle!!! x ( Palm trees, an 8... I got stuck on that and never properly figured out how to do it...!  I hated that puzzle!

As for my fav games that are not talked about, I'd say one of them is Tetris Attack.

It is among my list of top favorite games of all time, and I don't think it is ever talked about, which makes me sad, because it is such a great puzzle game and has a lot of intense moments in it. I used to play this everyday just to relax, haha.

Another one that I love that is never mentioned are the Trauma Center games.

It's among the small list of games that makes good use of the Wiimote and fits right in on the DS. Who know a game about surgery was possible to make, and be fun. : D Trauma Center does that well.
