Forums - Gaming Discussion - No Man's Sky On Tonight Show With Stephen Colbert

I swear to Jebas, half the reason I never post videos on here is because I can never remember how to embed the bloody things. Dx Halp.

In any case, Sean Murray had a brief talk with Stephen Colbert while showing random snippets of planets during tonight's, um, Tonight Show with Stephen Colbert. Nothing really new in terms of information, but I found it fairly entertaining, and enjoyed seeing a few new looking planets, so thought I'd share and see what all you fine folks thought. =D

I don't know how good this will be. Not that I'm not looking forward to it, cause I am. A lot. But you know, cautious optimism and all that. But one thing's for certain: the hype and noteriety this is getting is really something for an indie tame, nearing the levels of Minecraft. It's going to make a big splash. Let's hope it's a positive one.

Some people on other sites thought this would give us a release date, lol. Nope, why would Hello Games do that? That would mean they'd actually do something to not slowly kill the hype for their game after all...

Anyway, not gonna watch this, until they give a release date or at least a window, I'm not interested. Sorry for the minirant.

x3 Yeah, I felt like I was going to pull my hair out during the last E3 period, but I've managed to get my anticipation to enough of a low simmer to keep it from going sour, mostly by focusing on other released/upcoming games like Phantom Pain and Fallout 4 instead. I figure that whenever the game (eventually) comes out, I'll buy it and wander the galaxy like a Merry Space Man... until then, I'll keep shooting Russians in the head.

...figuratively speaking.

That being said, not sure why folks thought the release date would be on Colbert's show, of all things; given the format, was pretty much expecting 'A Beginner's Introduction To No Man's Sky' and that's essentially what it was, presenting it largely to folks who might not have quite been drawn in yet. Figure that either they'll announce it on a more game-centric stage- one of the upcoming conferences, perhaps- or just randomly throw it out onto the Internet one day. xP

Either way, kirby hug for the minirant! (>^_^)>

Aye, my main concern here is I'm worried the hype is going to draw in too big a crowd that doesn't actually know the apparent structure of the game, and is expecting something with quests, missions, story arcs, cutscenes, etc, etc, etc, who will then be VERY pissed when none of that materializes. :/ Too much hype can suck folks in just because they're hearing 'Looks Awesome!' and not really catching WHY the people saying it thinks it looks awesome. In my case, I want to explore, trade, maybe he a pirate... @_@ I don't really need a structured plot, missions, etc, if the universe feels varied and interesting enough to spur me forward, but I know that the more freeform design's hardly going to appeal to everyone.

looks interesting. I am going to get this game.

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

This is the game that will officially welcome VR to the world.

This is one of the few PS4 games I'm looking forward to, still not worth a 399€ system...

Enjoyed the No Man's Sky segment on Colbert. Colbert himself seemed fairly impressed and I'm quite sure that although he's a sci-fi/fantasy nerd, he's not a gamer.
