Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ranking up in Splatoon the 'easy' away.

Frustrated by Splatoon's ranked mode? With a usb drive, you can eliminate the majority of the frustration by possessing two Splatoon save files. As of this post, your console will only save to one location during normal play, either your console or your drive (if your drive is inserted, it will save to your drive. If not, it will save to the console) meaning you can retain one file where your rank is high and after an unlucky string of losses, you can delete your lower-rank file and duplicate the high-rank save file in its place. Your rank will be restored! Be warned though: any money earned and leveling up done as well as purchases and such will be deleted as well. Shouldn't be too much of a problem since losses in ranked don't get you much money and don't level you up as much either.

Still, use this method with discretion. Some of you might be masochists and actually enjoy brutal and punishing challenges. You might also consider it devaluing the concept of a player's rank but considering it's not always within your control (sometimes your team just sucks), it's already devalued in my opinion. If it helps, you can think of this trick as a checkpoint system.

On a side note, seeing as how your rank doesn't unlock anything (your individual level does the unlocking), I suspect the ranking system was put there not to be maxed out the same way your level is but instead to match you with other equally competent players. This theory is supported by the fact that ranked isn't unlocked until level 10 after you've presumably gotten a handle of the controls and the gameplay. In addition, after a round in ranked, your rank will go up and down to a degree proportional to the average ranks of your teammates compared to the ranks of your opponents. For example, beating a higher-ranked team will net your team a big boost in rank and cost the opposing team just as much. Conversely, losing to a higher-ranked team costs you less rank and gives the opposing team less too.

Whatever the case, people seem to be getting quite hung up on their rank going down when it's probably not their fault (unless it is in which case git gud, scrub!)

Just felt like letting people know.

Yea, I assumed if you can do this for getting rerolls, you could do this as well with your Rank

Even though I would really like to get to S rank, and am stuck on A for the longest time, I won't resort to this method..

I wish you luck. Hopefully your team will be competent but more importantly, you'll get some good, tense rounds out of your playtime. Those are always most fun.

Lol, thanks

But to be honest, I've been playing ranked a lot less since I am always on the losing team, despite me doing decently well, so I've just been sticking with Turf Wars

Well this is no longer useful to me. I got to A+ 99 once, didn't manage to make it to S rank, and then I just kept losing over and over with my squad, and am now at A- 70. It was frustrating.

Still, I wouldn't have done this.

I would have saved at around A 70 just to be on the safe side.

I'm somewhat desperate for S+, But I will never resort to such methods.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Don't be so desperate. It doesn't mean anything as some get there by luck.

I guess it gives someone something to aim for but if your team sucks, not much you can do.

Just wondering how do you even do it... just wannan know.

Why did i not think of this earlier...........................
Thankyou for sharing!

Do what exactly? Overwrite save files?
