A global discontinuation won't be happening soon.

agree with this, and i hope the console is in the market for a long while and hopefully it gets a price cut... i kind of need a new PS3 since my disk tray is not working properly and i have over 60 games for it that would become useless if the disck tray stops working, which will end up happening rather sooner than later...

What model ps3 do you have? Most problems can usually be solved fairly easily.

I hope they continue support of the ps3 for many more years. Out of around 30 consoles owned it my favorite.

i have the slim console (not the super slim but the one before it). and its not reading the disks properly i need to literally take the console and move it arround until it actually starts reading the disk.

You mean you dance a tango with it before start playing games? (jk lol)

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

If they can lower retail price to $150, there is a huge market they can make on developing countries. But since games would be mostly used or cheap, they would have to make a profit on the console sales, so at $150 retail, they would have to cost $120.

If they can't reach these price points might be interesting to discontinue.

ps3 is an expensive machine to manufacture, I doubt it will ever be viable to reach that price point as such discontinuing makes more sense, you can't make a profite in developing countries if you can't sell the hardware at a decent profit as they aren;t going to make anything on the games.

Till now they have burnt $3 billion for PS3. Better to let it go. They are probably busy designing next PS.

I hope not :O

I might buy another PS3 in the future (like in 2 years maybe).

I have sold many of my PS3 games. But still I have a decent collection of PS3 games (35+). Since I sold my faulty PS3 I am also looking for a cheap PS3 in next year to replay them at future.

They do sell a lot of software on all consoles in India. If the consoles get a price cut here, they can sella  lot more software.

In India

PS3 500GB - $350 (As much as XB1 in USA)

PS4 500GB (no bundle) - $600

PS4 1TB (no bundle) - $650

New games on PS4 - $67

New games on PC - $30 (Ubisoft) to $50 (EA)

Also, there is no legitimate used game market in India like Gamestop in USA. Prices of PS4 games fall very slowly compared to PC games. Retail sales of PC games is big in India.

I think next year it will be discontinued in tons of places, and by 2017 it will be entirely.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won
