Agreed.

The major reason to have games developed by first party is that all the money generated by that game goes towards the owner of the studio that produced it, and we all know that microsoft isn't in the console market to get money.

While not a MS IP, I think Titanfall not doing well took MS by surprise. That game was suppose to be the new Halo for them, and it sort of flopped. I really don't think they intended to have to find another game like that.

Titanfall was supposed to be the next Halo for them, when it was not developed or published by them and was not exclusive to their platform? I think that's the best oversell on the importance of Titanfall I have ever seen on Chartz, which is saying something.

Also, the game sold millions and was a success according to EA. How much did it need to sell to not be a flop? Just curious. Did every Xbone owner need to buy it? lol.

That game was suppose to be the next big FPS. It was hyped as a game that was going to do for FPS what Mario did for platforming. It was suppose to redefine everything we know about the genre.

In the end, it didn't do anything.

not to mention Titan Fall 2 has already been announce multiplat.

The only real problem I have with Microsoft Studios is that that the big ones do indeed seem like slaves to a particular IP. And then you look at Sony's. ND came out of no where with TLOU, Bend is working on a new IP, GG has Horizon,... a new IP. Japan Studios has Bloodborne... a new IP, MM has Dreams... a new IP... even San Diego is doing a new game. I remember Spencer talking about why they veer away from new IP sometimes, but you never now what latent creativity your studios have... free that creativity. Turn 10 Studios needs to be emancipated.

I disagree, it does matter (at least in part, I agree owning an IP is important). Even if you own an IP, if a studio does an awesome game and become a well-known studio because of that, it's not a good thing for your company/console if this studio decides to leave your IP and go multiplatform (or exclusive for someone else) for their next game (we saw how much Destiny is helping the PS4, thanks Bungie!). You can give your IP to another third party studio, but who knows if it will be as good as the previous game.

A first party studio will make the kind of games you want, with the planning you want, and they will always do that, so you can invest in them fully without a doubt. You just can't invest fully in a third party studio because you own the IP they're currently developing, it's helping someone who could work for your concurrent the next day.

In business, outsourcing can be cool, useful and even  necessary, but it's better if your internal teams and processes are strong enough for your company to work without it (for example it's a lot more difficult to invest in your subcontractor and make them grow when you need).

Yeah their first party is sublime
Experiment around ms already

I Hate PLAYSTATION PLUS

I dunno, whoever is in charge of their TV and overall Xbone 🎮 experience, is what makes me keep mine on. It pissed me off, like the Covenant pisses Master Chief off, when they killed their TV studio. I was loving watching exclusively made content with interactive features. At least we know that 10/27 is around the corner and it's something to look forward to till M$ gets their shit 💩 straight. #Halo5 love it or hate it, still hype, like an MMA fight!

Seems like MS' 1st party has gone a long way backwards this gen. Started to look like they might actually care about making new studios and games, but then they were all like 'hololnez lulz'.

There is like, 1 or not even any studio working mainly for hololens, maybe some speical things for confence like that Halo room thing at E3, but it's not a game or even a big project.

As long as their fans are happy...I guess it's fine.

What I realised long ago was that Microsoft do not want studios, the donn't actually want 1st parties at all. They want to attract people to their console and then try to keep them there paying subs and getting royalties.

That is why the core titles for xbox are only Halo, Gears and Forza. The rest are disposable for them and would not be made if they didn't need to. Microsoft were always very cynical in terms of business ethics.
They have very little stake in game development and are not here "for the gamers", they are here for the money. Nothing more.

I dont want to offend anyone, this is simply my honest opinion on them as a past customer (gen 7).
