Forums - Gaming Discussion - Most disappointing "fall from grace" by a game company

Rare, even the husk of what they used to be has crumbled to dust.

Maxis when they start the sims I knew it was game over
Creative Assembly Rome total war was godly but now pretty much all their games are so broken at launch you can't even enjoy them even though they still somehow get high scores from the reviewers

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

1) Loved Capcom gaming company because of Resident Evil.

2) Then they decided to add more action to the game. It then became schizophrenic. Having split personalities of COD, RE, & UC. That I didn't like.

3) Now I feel that the series is basically stuck in a side pleasing loop. And can't decide on where to keep the series placed.

Loved Konami for its Metal gear, castlevania, Silent hill games, and many more.
Now i hate them because.... you know why.
Though i really hope they either get back in shape(gotta have hope even if it is hopeless), or sell their IPs before they kill the franchises through their pachinko machines

This is also my answer. They didn't just fall from grace. They came down in a ball of fire, taking massive casualties with them.

Sega times ten.

Konami. I loved Castlevania and especially Ganbare Goemon so much. Now these along with others of their great franchises have been reduced to pachinko machines. Coupled with all the other outrageous things Konami did, they are dead to me.

I loved Konami when they developed Mystical Ninja, Zone of the Enders, 2D Castlevania, and Dance Dance Revolution. But then they focused on more on making stupid new things( rather than deliver and improve upon old things. With some minor exception to Metal Gear, they lost their grip on what their hardcore fans really want.
Now I feel contempt for them.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

No mention of Ubisoft? For a time they must have ranked number one last gen. This gen seems to be waving them goodbye, especially with their best games probably being small side Indy projects. They need to tear up their half last gen, half PC engines, give their yearly franchises a rest, and work on getting games up to standard instead of rushed for the holidays.

1) Loved Nintendo because they were great in the 90s
2) Then they insisted in keeping stupid things like region lock and didn't do obvious things like work hard on the online aspect of their consoles and better hardware
3) Now I feel like I don't care about them anymore and I'm not interested in buying their consoles, maybe one day in the future if they do something similar to what sony and microsoft do

Nintendo, SEGA, Konami, Capcom, Microsoft, Square Enix, EA, Ubisoft and half a dozen others come to mind but Sony is the worst.

They mishandled the PS3's launch (badly I might add), then the PSP Go and then the PSN hack. Throw the Vita debacle on top of that and they have certainly earned my contempt. They might not have shown such disdain for their games and studios as the other examples I listed, but the supreme height at which they stood with the PS2 and the sheer incompetence that followed was enough to turn me.
